At this point, we are trying to take advantage of little breaks in the weather here and there, to get small projects done before we leave. We are not projected to get rain until this afternoon, but it's below freezing right now...
It was kinda funny, looking down into 18-wheel tractor-trailer rigs on the freeway. Numerous people were taking photos/video with their phones. EVERYBODY gave us plenty of room- we had no conflicts at intersections, when merging, or when changing lanes... :)
First road test went VERY well. Everything worked, from the lights, to the wipers, to the adjustable Jake brake. We put about 10 miles on her, including cruising up and down the interstate at 55 mph... :)
It is getting harder and harder to get anything done outside, because of the weather. It's been raining and/or below freezing, and is going to continue doing that. A lot of the things that we're using (paint, urethane, epoxy, silicone) won't set up in those conditions.
Today is the only day...
The drawbridge is mounted!
I tested it afterwards by sitting on it in a folding chair and having a beer.
That was a big step for us. We were thankful that it worked correctly on the first try.
We still have a little work to do on it, to include installing the weatherstripping, but we ran it...
The door recesses into the back of the box, so the weatherstripping will not be exposed to the weather directly.
Since it's a vehicle, it will almost always be sloping to one side or the other, giving any water that does find it's way in there, a path to run off instead of just sitting on top...

Once the drawbridge hinge is mounted, we can start road testing the...
The maintenance schedule looks fairly scary for the Beta, with an engine overhaul scheduled for every 90 hours. It looks twice as scary for the TM, with an engine overhaul scheduled for every 45 hours.
But 50 horserpower in a 245-pound motorcycle with a license plate sounds like fun...
Wow, Kawasaki has five different sizes of small air-cooled play bikes- two sizes of the KLX110 (12/14 wheelset with two different suspension systems), and three sizes of the KLX140 (14/17, 16/19, and 18/21 wheelsets each with their own suspension system).
It is worthless.
If you want one, and can get this one for free, then it may work out for you, but it would probably be quicker, easier, and less expensive to buy one that doesn't have a windowed engine...
Years ago, my wife and I purchased a Yamaha TTR90E for our daughter as an off-road play bike when she was little. We also used it as a pit bike at our local motorcycle road racing course. It was great, in both roles.
Fast forward to today- we are now retired, empty nesters, and in the process...
