I had a platform to stand on to repair the front side of my roof. It was at the level of the truck bed sides. if you use a couple of step ladders and put a platform between them, working on the back side of your roof shouldn't be much of a problem.
Not sure what roof you have but I would never walk on most pop up camper roofs. They're just thin aluminum sheet, 1" styrofoam and 1/8" luan plywood. No structural components whatsoever apart from 3 or 4" around the rim.
yes, sounds right to me. Rex Willet wrote up some instructions for disconnecting the HECO on the NOrthstar Facebook page. I think I copied them and put them in a thread here. But my recollection is that the instructions are basically what you describe above.
Great work. Your vinyl wrapping inspired me. I'd never done it before but we have a 94 Landcruiser and the UV here in Colorado had burned through the clear coat on the flat surfaces. I'd painted it once but it burned through again. So I bought a piece of vinyl the same color as the truck...
I did not. I still have the original roof. The dealer who was going to supply the new roof and canvas stopped communicating with me after he gave me the estimate, so I gave up. I've made repairs to the interior ceiling as well as repairing the strengthening the sides of the original roof, so...
I thought the Fuso automatic had a pretty large cooler with its own electric fan mounted forward of the batteries on the left side? At least I've seen a few that way. When I bought ours, the dealer had two identical trucks with the same mileage, one standard and one auto. I chose the...
I drove mine home from NC to Denver with no load and 80psi in all the tires. Talk about a nightmare. I began looking at every bridge joint with sheer terror. :) A camper, timbrens and new shocks solved the problem. Mine comes in at around 11,900 lbs with the full service body, Northstar...
Got some constant squeaking going on. Best guess is that its coming from where the cab sits in the cradles and is locked down. Anyone else have this problem and know the solution. Looking at the hooks in the center of the cradles, the left one clearly had a shining part on top where it is...
I’d post your problem on the diesel forum at PeachParts.com. It’s a Mercedes diesel forum but a lot of good dieselheads there who know a lot about older NA diesels. Tell them I sent you. I used to be a regular there.
I suspect the wastegate on your turbo is blowing off at 2300 rpm’s decreasing air flow and increasing smoke. I’d try wiring your wastegate closed and seeing if it solves the problem.
Those two screws in shear have always struck me as dicey. But mine is a 95 and they haven’t failed yet. You could join the two 40” pieces with a third piece in the middle if you are worried.
