2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

ratled, Yes, I agree that a different and a newer vehicle will not guarantee anything. I have a GMT900 2500 Suburban, I have take it on a couple "overland" adventures and it was absolutely horrible, to a point that I would be more comfortable in a 1990s Wrangler. I am so happy with how this...

    2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 build

Nice looking truck and your box looks fantastic! Can't help you much with the rear suspension but up front look into AtomicFab coilover kit. You can get the brackets, shocks and coils for around $750 and it will be the best suspension modification you can possibly do to your truck that's within...

2006 GMC Sierra aka Granopy or Goldmember haven’t decided yet

Smileyshaun, Truck looks fantastic, so clean and elegant. Can't go wrong with a diff drop lift, keeps the CV angles way better than a level kit. Like what you did with chopping up the camper shell, looks like a great fit. Under 70lbs is good for your 35s, my 37" Patagonia MTs are right around...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Tough decision: TO FIX OR RETIRE I started building this tuck about five years ago and quickly turned it into an extremely reliable and capable off road monstrocity and daily driver. Other than a couple upgrades I spend virtually nothing on maintenance and repairs and it is starting to show...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

So the last trip in the Sub was fun and full of semi-expected unpleasant adventures. Two months ago I lost 1st gear in the tranny, I drove it nearly 3,000 miles without 1st gear and it did just fine. Even pulled a stuck big rig out of a snow bank last month. However this adventure into the...

anyone make bunk beds in the back of their suburban?

Yes, I tried a similar to bunk bed setup in the back for one roadtrip. I made an elevated platform for the kids to sleep on all the way at the back of the Sub and my wife and I had our feet under that platform when we slept in the back. I'll try to re-create what I had and take a couple pics...

    Last 2500 Suburban

Putting my 2500 Suburban towing capacity to good use. My trusty 1500 Sub needed a 200 mile ride home after the last adventure. Compared to the 10,000# trailer I usually tow I didn't even feel like I was towing another Suburban. Canoe on the roof, well that was nerve wrecking considering that...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

North Maine Woods weekend getaway, part 2. We continued our day with a quick drive to find a couple abandoned locomotives. In the summer the road to locomotives is clearly labeled at every turn. In the off-season, this is the only sign pointing to the Trains. Funny how this works, but if...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

North Maine Woods weekend getaway! Kids are on spring break so what better way to spend it than a trip to one of the most remote wilderness areas on the East coast: Allagash Wilderness Waterway for some camping and canoeing. Sub is ready and packed, camper is packed and hooked up. On a side...

    Jeep Liberty pickup

straypoet, Thank you, it's still a work in progress cosmetically. Hopefully I will get enough yard work done this month that I could take a few days to finish painting, color matching all plastic bumpers and fenders as well as some finishing touches on the bed. Stay tuned for more shenanigans!

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Sub slowly turned into a yard truck/tractor here in New England. Finally I replaced it with a Jeep Liberty pickup and this is how they stack up. JEEP Liberty pickup pulling down a big pine tree. Suburban pulling down a big pine tree. 6,000 lbs weight of the Suburban made pulling down...

    Jeep Liberty pickup

Not too much progress with the Liberty, it was run every week playing in the snow and now it's run hard everyday doing yard work. Pulling down a 60-70 ft tall pine tree, this one I recorded, but ended up pulling about 15 down today. Foot deep mud made pulling the trees down and getting...

    Overlandtowater’s solid axle suburban

Haha, I let mine get shredded just like you last year. And again after I took the wheel off the hub. Still really impressed how far you can drive these trucks even after a catastrophic failure.

A Dusty, Windy Thanksgiving (LR3 in Death Valley/Mojave Nat'l Preserve)

Great pictures! So that green teakettle top left with red painted flowers is mine. I left it there in 2016. Park service takes down the tea kettles couple times a year. I used a 10" long 1/2" nail to drive that kettle into the post. So glad that it's still there! Day I put it up in 2016...

    Last 2500 Suburban

MichaelK10, Black Bear is a great solid tune. I am lucky enough to have an 2000 Sub back when they still had PCM instead of the ECM, TCM, BCM that my GMT900 has. I'm sure a Tech2 can do it, but not sure. Good luck and when you figure it out do let us know.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

twodollars, I have the older Liberty, before the Nitro came out. My oil filter is not too difficult to reach, however i have heard that 07 and newer Liberties and Nitros are a pain to change. I have always like the bubbly look of the Nitro. Hopefully I can find one thats cheap enough to turn...

    Last 2500 Suburban

MichaelK10, Interesting, I did not even think of that lower psi limit, just assumed that it was set for all tires to be within 5psi. I wonder if any independent shop with a tech2 can adjust it for you if the dealer will not.

    Last 2500 Suburban

dvn4life1972, I think you nailed this one. I have a GM 8.6" 10 bolt on my 1500 with 12.5" ground clearance, vs 14 bolt FF on the 2500 with 8.5" ground clearance sitting on 33" tires. That extra 4" makes a HUGE difference. So even if I do go to 37s on my 2500 I'm still at 10.5" ground clearance...

    Last 2500 Suburban

dvn4life1972, I wanted 40s but could not fit them because I would have to spend $350 on re-routing rear AC lines and heater lines. 37's fit and look perfect for what I need. As far as dropping tire pressure to 18 in the 10 ply tires without a good sidewall, I am scared to get a puncture. I...
