What LED lights do you run ? Why?

I run a set of the new Hella 4000 compact LED's.... http://www.myhellalights.com/index.php/products/auxiliary-lamps/led/rallye-4000-compact-led/ .. They reach out over the lowbeams and do have a focused beam with a cutoff to keep glare controllable. I run some nice Ridgid SRQ diffused lights...

Project Weekend Warrior (A slow Chevrolet Dmax Express Camper Build)

I have had the roof rack noise issue you brought up, just a simple crossbar from my contractor rack caused a weird random roof noise at higher speeds. A simple fairing works and does not even have to fit well to work, something about high strength steel and the roof rib adhesive flexing? I...

    My ((always evolving)) AWD Savanah

Looks like you have the Boost D534 http://www.fueloffroad.com/boost-d534-w-381.htm I could not get that 292265 number to reference and Fuel makes 4 different choices for backspacing/offset on the same wheel was the part number on the paperwork?. They actually make a 17x9 wheel with the...

    My ((always evolving)) AWD Savanah

Thom, what is the offset/backspacing on your aftermarket wheels? There are fewer wheel choices when backspacing is considered, thanks guys.............. BTW a 17x9 and 275-70 is a sweet combo...........

    My ((always evolving)) AWD Savanah

You really improved the departure angle with all that work, the factory hitch and spare both hang really low, any plans for the front? Thanks for the reply I am looking at wheels, check your numbers it seems wheel backspacing and offset are not right. I think your wheels are 0mm offset on a 9"...

    King Starboard

It might not be rigid enough even when thicker and heavier, the sawdust is hard to pick up with the static but it drills great. I do like it though and use it if possible you just have to get used to it......

    My ((always evolving)) AWD Savanah

Very functional and good looking at the same time, nice AWD Van.....A full window cargo van with doors on both sides and a good color, what a great find. You could not have ordered a better combo new in my opinion, the driver side doors allow you to reach into most of the Van while standing on...

2003 Express AWD, tired suspension at 223k, need suggestions

I would guess the bumpstops are deteriorated or possibly gone, both front and back rely on them as part of the spring rate and would be noticeable. I have had success getting the new car feel back when changing the front control arm bushings on other GM torsion front suspensions. Of course...

Just bought a 2005 GMC Savana AWD - Need some help

Has the Van been sitting around? Has it been under water? Maybe it is just some condensation and or the computer re-learning your driving habits after being without power at some point. You could just drive it some more and see if it gets better. I would change the fluid and filter then see...

Boulder Offroad 6" lift for Express

I pushed all my chips in on this same issue a few years ago and have been happily getting by with a GM 1/2 ton AWD Van. I have had a heavy 12' truck camper and 4x4 dually for decades, it can't fit where it could actually go. I started backcountry tenting again out of a Jeep LJ with 33" tires and...

2004 AWD Chevy Express 1500 - First Van!

Don't sweat the bed height mine is almost the same and we sleep great, the taller underbed storage is much appreciated. The speed of your build is impressive, getting ready for the cold in your neighborhood has urgency. You will like the AWD Van's snow performance.

Congratulations on your new Van!.........Is that bumper aluminum? It's nice to see more AWD Van's getting a chance to explore the forest roads.........

    Front brush guard advice

It mounts to the bumper brackets, not the frame because of the Airbags .......... I did call it a light mount that "might" keep deer out of radiator so I get it, the word hopefully meant no fluid leaks and one light for the ride to town...........

    2004 Chevrolet AWD Express

A rare AWD van that grew up in the forest, turned into a BackCountry Camper in the prime of it's life, what a story..................... Maybee the low bid paint did not get a good bite...........................

Anyone ever make their own road shower device?

Road shower I was planning on a couple of heavy plastic pipe water tanks on the roof rack for my Van build, but like most people I started using what I had and am also old enough to need a good reason to change. When Jeep camping I used two MSR 10L or 2.5 gal water bags w/ shower kits that...

    Louder horns??

I just had success with this same issue, a marine 12v stainless dual trumpet horn that sounds like an old caddy only better?.....http://www.marinco.com/en/10011 It is plenty loud but more likely to make smiles than get you shot. Mine is an AFI XL that sounds so good I don't care that the...

    Electric cooling fans?

They make really good electric fans but they are usually LOUD, for me it's the noise at idle or slow speed when in the backcountry. A good HD factory mechanical fan backed up by an electric fan that comes on when things are brutal is best.................
