Haha yes the Alaskans are heavy but I was picking a pop up with hard sides. My point is that there are cheaper alternatives and of course other options to the alaskan. That being said I do think its great more companies are coming on the US market. Can't wait to see the new All Terrain...
Personally I think the GXV prices are really high. For a lot less money you could buy a Fuso (there is. A used Fg with super singles, manual, and low range for sale on Expo for around 30k) and:
- head to All Turrain Warrriors at sportsmobile west and buy a front bumper, new springs, new leafs...
I really like your setup with the spare tires. Can you provide some more build details. For instance, I am interested to know what tire size (35's?) and did you do any other modifications to the truck; looks like suspension but have you added lockers, etc? How has it been off road?

I am very glad they are having fun. I can only dream of such a trip. Anyway, my point about earthroamer is that they might be a better option because they make and sell so many units which for the most part are standard (layout, etc). As a result they can get more feedback from more customers...
Awesome stuff. Such a cool rig. Thank you for posting. I loved reading the build as it was happening but nice to see it here with the details explained. I really wish Earthroamer would build start up the JK project again but do the interior plan and roof like yours. I wonder if without the...
I too have heard about concerns with GXV build issues; seems insane to me at the prices these rigs cost. For the cost of these things with the expectation of where they are supposed to be used (in extreme conditions like desert and tundra) it is alarming to see the issues White Acorn has...
Awesome! Finally interior pics! After the prototype will the cabinets be whet fiberglass like the other XP? I like the layout and the iconic teak floor. Need more pics of the door, settee and table.
Agreed. Even if it is not the lift up panel at the front you could cover the far forward end with two or more smaller hinged or lift off panels to access the storage there. It may not be used all the time like the front section storage but to have it available would still be useful and...
Dying to see interior pics... will it have the teak floor or is that too heavy? Also, really interested to see how the layout works in reality. I have seen the diagram but interested to see what it looks like.
Agreed. I have read his posts in the past on the Tacoma and the FWC and they both seem like a great combo. Nice and small for trails but strong enough for the camper. Not to mention Toyota's great reliability.
I do think the HiLux frame is fully boxed. That being said it would be interesting to see a real world example of the Tacoma FwC, but I dont see how this version would be much different than any other FWC (or Phoenix or similar "light weight" pop-up) on a Tacoma... Also havent people been...
Looks amazing! This is my favorite truck camper by far. Interested to see how it compares with the XP camper when kitted up with some options.
BTW, with the fiberglass sides is it possible to get it painted in a custom color (e.g. like that red Jeep with the matching red 4WC camper)?
I agree for most long weekends or quick camping trips, but I see the advantage to having the option to drop the camper. For instance if you spent a month in Yosemite I would love to leave the camp setup to go explore. We stayed in a cabin there and i was thinking if we had a nonremovable...
