    Alaskan Camper Build Up

It's been a hot summer in Colorado and the little ac unit we have in the camper is not quite doing the job when the heat is over 90 and there is no moisture in the air to remove. Since I work nights, I have to have a cooling source that is effective during day time heat and when the temps...

    Newbie questions....

Welcome! If your rig is stock I would think that you would be running 265's, not 365's as those are huge tires on a non lifted vehicle. I ran 305 Nitto's (same company as Toyo), with a 2" spring lift on the front of my truck and they were great tires for what they are expected to do. The front...

    Front receiver

You're right it would be a bad idea w/o some major suspension mods. In addition, it will partially block the radiator and your headlights. I carried a generator on the front in an aluminum box and I could really tell the difference with just it.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

In answer to your question about the wheels and tires, they are a great upgrade. The truck and camper feel more stable on the road and there is less sway overall. The tires, being a little more narrow, perform very well in the rain with no tendency to hydroplane. They can be a little rough...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Go to us carburetion inc @ http://www.propane-generators.com/ and they can either sell you a kit for yours or a whole generator. One of the reasons I went with the Yamaha is that Yamaha will still warranty the generator with the conversion.

Gauges....Which ones do we really need?

I have a total of seven gauges in my truck and would have to say most of them are valuable. EGT, boost press, oil pres, fuel pres, oil temp, tran temp & volts. I look at EGT and boost the most and the boost gauge let me know of an imminent turbo failure and I was able to get back to town...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

We've been busy camping as much as possible this summer so some of the projects for the camper went on the back burner, fly fishing does have priority after all. New 58" comet dual band antenna to replace the stubby. It folds down nicely and is currently secured with a bungee when down, I'll...

Lots of hype and bling on the website, but few real world specs. eg Price and how long it runs on a charge.

    Best camping chairs under $50

We got our chairs at REI about five years ago and they are working great still and have been abused. If you have a problem they take them back with no questions asked. I would give them a try first.

    New fuse block at Sierra

I'm using the same fuse panel in my camper and it works great. The only thing I'm planning on doing is to add the glowing fuses to it because it's stuck in the back of a cupboard that is kind of dark and it would be nice to just peek in and see if one is blown.

Great write up on the power system. How would you compare that system to the Outback converter/inverter that could much of the same things? More info on the solar system please!

    2M Antenna Recommendations?

What about a longer fold down 2/6 meter antenna that could conceivably fold over a 15 foot roof? Any Recommendations? It would have to attach to a folding mount of some sort and for obvious reasons only be used when stationary.
