Thanks for the write up Brian and and makes me want to get outside and get the HID mounted that I bought on the Checker deal about a month ago. I think I'll put them on my CJ7 though and see how durable they are.
I wonder if a set of these conversions would fit in the housings of my PIAA 520's...
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the encouragement and I hope all is going well in the great white north. I actually had Ute cut the headboard off the flatbed as I have no intention of taking the camper off except to trade out trucks some day.
The camper will be bolted directly to the bed and frame with...
That pull out tool chest is a nice idea. It looks like a pickup bed box that has been adapted nicely. I wonder what they used for a slider? The sliders would have to be super stout to allow the box to be in the extended position and have the additional weight of a person and the steps. My...
There is no actual lift in the rear of the truck, it simply has a 2.5" front spring lift to level out the truck, ( a mandatory thing if you want a level camper), and Bilstein 7100 shocks all around with 260 psi. The wheels are factory 16" and the tires are 10 ply Nitto 33's that are rated...
Thanks for the reply Frank and welcome to the forum. The visual perspective is slightly skewed by the earlier pictures. The propane tank actually sits inboard slightly though I will be devising a skid guard and front protection before the vehicle goes off road or back to the narrow Baja roads...
The truck is now ready for the camper. I'll be heading to Chehalis, WA on Monday to load and attach the camper to the truck. It looks like we're almost there.
I finally got an answer back from the tire shop in Edmonton, AB and they have the ZXL's 9.00's at 90% tread for $500 a piece and they would not arrange shipping. $2500 plus unknown amount of shipping and duty for used tires... Now I just need to know if there is a comparable tire to the Toyo...
The first question would be whether you are going foreign or domestic as the domestic duals do not track in the same line as the front tires and can be bad in ice, snow and dirt. Next, how are you going to load you vehicle? Heavily loaded vehicles perform best with duallies unless you do...
So the general consensus is that the Michelin military tires and too rough on the prolonged highway use and I know I'd hear it from the wife on that one... If so, what does that leave a person for tire choices on a 16" rim? A 19.5 rim and tire combination leave you very limited off road ability...
Thanks for the info Charlie and it gives me more things to ponder and research. On the plus side, I already have a mild lift and an after market bumper that will clear big tires. The truck came standard with 16" wheels as well as the spare set I picked up along the way so that won't be an...
I guess when I'm read to buy I'm going to need the phone of your dealer in AK. LOL! or find one in Colorado that is willing to get off their duff. BTW, are you using a truck tire dealer?
But I still need to design a spare tire rack for the back of my truck. I'm trying to decide if I if I...
If you decide to go with a small generator like I'm going to you should consider the Yamaha 1000 over the Honda. People seem to have less issues with them and you can buy them converted to propane if you want.
I left a message with Dollar Tire in Edmonton and we'll see what they have I guess. My local Michelin dealers thought I was cracked to even try and find them. Sounds like most of these military tires are going directly to Iraq right now.
