Do you have a good mead recipe? I've been thinking of doing one for awhile.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

I did not get a total weight yet, but I'm guessing over 1100. BTW, what is a TW200? Two months down south, now that sounds nice! :sunny:

Do AGM batteries need to be in a vented space?

The NSB210FT Energy1 batteries I am using are quoted as the following: These are known as VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) batteries and will not vent to the atmosphere unless internal case pressure reaches 5psi. This will occur due to a serious overcharge from a run away piece of equipment. In...

    Honda or Yamaha generator?

The complaints I read were directed only at the 1000 watt Honda and no other. Propane converted generators run as quiet as gas, but slightly cleaner. Onan is the big diesel generator company and I think they start around 3000 watts.

    Eco-Roamer - F650 based Expedition Vehicle

Sounds like you've had some "interesting" experiences in Elkhart. Keep us posted on the build as it sounds like it's going to be awesome when complete.

    Honda or Yamaha generator?

I currently have a Yamaha 3000 watt gen set that runs on propane. It's very nice quiet and heavy at 150 lbs. With our new camper we just got I'll be picking up a 1000 watt generator this summer to augment solar on gray days and will go with the Yamaha. I looked closely at the Honda as it is a...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Well we're back from Big Bend and sorry I missed you John, but we were up in a primitive site as we arrived too late for any other site there. Though in retrospect, it was better up off the beaten path. After battling the bugs, wind and heat for three days the weather turned a little sour and...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

The camper is on the truck at at last and off from Alaskan at about 5pm today. Great people that I recommend. The AC is a Little Guy Trailer ac and looks like it is an adapted dog kennel ac of all things. Works great and minimal draw on the battery bank. A couple came today during the...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

The camper will be loaded on the truck tomorrow in the am. The camper, being a flat bed model is a little more difficult to load than a regular slide in style camper and will be put on with a combination of the factory lift jacks and a fork lift to keep everything safe. Overall impression...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Hi Marc I ordered the Ute directly from Ute Ltd in Seattle and I was told not to give out the price as it was a one time for a demo unit. Suffice to say I got a great deal, but they are actually a good deal to start with even imported from Australia.

    Repainting bumpers?

I've had items powder coated before and the shop always wants to bead/sand blast prior to the application of the powder and subsequent baking. The only way to so it properly is to pull the bumper. After it is redone you might consider a second clear powder coat over top or using one of the...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

I've discovered what a pain it is to install tail lights on a flat bed. I ordered these cool looking 61 led lights from Superbriteleds not realizing they are European with the amber light for signaling in addition to the red and white. Off to the www (wide world waste of time, though not this...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Thanks for the replies and thoughts on the build. The fender is a little tight on the driver's side rear and if I start bumping it it will be coming off and the mud flaps will be on the boxes. I'll just have to wait and see if it's going to be an issue. I do like the idea of the cables on the...
