Mounting a Battery Inside The Cab. Any real downsides??

You are right archtimb that all batteries, even AGM's emit gas. A good AGM will have a vent of some sort so that it can vent if it receives a catastrophic overcharge, other they will simply build up pressure and split... Just run the vent line through the floor with a small hole.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Thanks Bob and wild1 for the follow up. Gordon at TCM did a nice article and it does a nice overview of why I went with the present camper. I do think that I will have to do a write up to explain a little more. There are a lot of truck camper people out there that don't realize that they...

    Multiple gun purchases???

Makes me glad I live in Colorado. California is bad for gun laws, but not nearly as bad as Canada. :ar15:

New CO guy w/old GM K10 and SnugTop topper

Welcome to the forum and maybe we can get together sometime, I'm in the Canon City area. For uploading pictures I've had good luck with photobucket, you may want to try that instead. Nice looking truck!

    6.0 Ford and Snorkel

Safari Snorkels are only made for the 7.3 Ford diesel like the others I've been finding so far. I would rather go with a bolt on model if at all possible. I'd like to do Medano Pass in the Great Sand dunes next month and know that were going have a huge run off this year and would not want to...

    6.0 Ford and Snorkel

Any recommendations on snorkels for the 6.0 Ford? Will any of them work with an after market intake system? Thanks

LG Voyager Navigation. Anyone ever use it?

If that's the case I would be real hesitant to not have a real GPS. There are many places I loose my signal here in Colorado, even with a boosted antenna. At $15 a month you'll have paid for a GPS pretty quickly. It always amazes me how these cell phone companies make money.

    The TP thread...

Camping World usually has better prices on the the TP you need. Dr. Bronner's rules and we use it for everything except dishes, in which case we use the REI stuff that will sud up in salt water too. You can buy the Dr Bronner's, peppermint or non scented, direct by the gallon and that should...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

It is a little more than a porta-potti, at least in my opinion. It does have a flush system and has no odor when flushing or changing the cassette. It may see backwards, but truly hauling around a holding tank full of "black water" and trying to find a dump station whenever you camp is...

    Air Conditioning Options?

I let you know more about the unit I have in the future as I test it more, but so far I have to say that it meets our needs nicely. You can run the unit while driving down the road to keep the camper cool. The alternator on the truck keeps the batteries topped off and will run the unit nicely...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Now that I've finally done a little cleaning inside after vacation and being back at work I have a few more shots, mainly of the interior: ICP Solar fan, 3 total in the roof. Quiet and and run 24/7 w/o wiring Sirius Radio and DVD player in overhead cabinet. I'll be moving the Sirius to be...

    SRW Conversion Questions

Mr. Lynch my thought on the subject, as I will be wanting to do this in a few years, is use an identical set up to the Earth Roamer people and Ford should not be able to say anything about warranty issues as they are looking after the Earth Roamer people. You might even see if Earth Roamer...

    16" or 17" 35X12.5 tires and wheels

I would check Craig's List and such as I found a spare set of 16's for my truck for $100 in polished aluminum. Keep looking you'll find them.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Shower Alaskan will put a shower in if you want it, but in reality we never used the inside shower on our previous camper in the four years we had it. On the other hand we did use the outside shower and have that on this camper as well. We currently use a small cedar deck and are considering...

    Lifting 1-ton w/camper?

I have the same lift on my truck as Outback Camper (Mark), and would not have any more than that for any type of off road activity. The camper and truck really feel top heavy when negotiating stuff on the slant. My advice, for what it's worth, don't lift and put a camper on. If you need more...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

The air conditioner system works great! When hot out you need to turn it on early as it takes a long time to actually cool rather than just keep up with the inside temp when it's 100+ degrees outside. At the peak sun of the day the solar panels will keep up with the air conditioner draw or if...
