    Commercial Truck Tires

After much deliberation I've decided to get a set of 19.5" wheels this summer and put on a set of Goodyear G-124 265/70R19.5's. This looks like a good compromise for load capacity versus traction and I won't have to replace tires every year hopefully. Anyone have a set of 19.5" wheels they...

    Leveling Ramps

I've been using the Lynx leveler blocks for about four years now and have to say they are a good solution. Last week we went on a quick four day trip and forgot them at home. I missed them and was reminded by my spouse that I should just leave them in the camper. The rocks worked, but the...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

We have this tall narrow and deep cupboard in the Alaskan that we have pondered for awhile. After a little thought, we put it to work with the help of a local cabinet maker, friend of a friend etc. Here it is closed: Now complete with slide out shelf on metal glides: As an added bonus, an...

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

The ICP solar fans I'm using do have the LED light. It really isn't much use though as you have to hold the button in for them to work and the one amber LED is really not very bright. The fans on the other hand are great and run 24/7.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Thanks for the encouragement Metapoint! The lift I am using is a Procomp 2.5 inch front spring lift only with replacement Biltstein 7100 shocks all the way around. This levels off the truck and makes the camper level as well, provided you are on level ground. There is no reason you could not...

    On the cheap modifications

You're right Ron, that would really help. I bet it cut the noise down and reduce vehicle drag to the side and it costs nothing. I still think the beer opener, I mean "soda" opener is the most useful tool, though in a pinch almost anything can be used.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Hi Brad, The steps are made by Step Up Manufacturing out of Eugene, OR. The set we have are wider and deeper than the typical steps that come with a truck camper, and thus more stable.

Storage CO2 Tank and Hose Solutionn

Very nice, I especially like the hose being protected as I've busted mine before as it sat in with the rest of the junk in that compartment.

    Need ideas for steps...

You might try something like this. Bolt runs through the bottom of the steps and is pinned in place. Very stable and out of the way.

    Alaskan Camper Build Up

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I've been doing a few fine tuning projects over the last couple weeks to make camping a little more pleasurable. Steps are directly bolted to the rear of the camper and have a rod that holds them up in place that pins in place for safety on the road...
