impressions of DMC-G2 (EVIL, micro four thirds)

not sure yet on durability, just got it... however my thoughts would be that no interchangeable lens system is going to be a simple and rugged as an "all-in-one" setup... have you looked at the canon G12 or Nikon P7000? they seem like they would be good all around choices for you. i'm pretty...

Snow! 24 Hours from Phoenix to Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon and Back

they were plowing lake mary rd, but it still had a couple inches on it. i did have to go the long way around morman lake, the str8 thru way was closed. not many cars. one fast moving tow truck passed me. i stopped and chatted with 2 plow drivers that were taking a break, they didn't know if the...

Snow! 24 Hours from Phoenix to Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon and Back

i head back to valle, and decide to go back to flagstaff via the 180 again instead of cutting down to the 40. i saw on a sign that there were a couple forest roads on the west side that were winter-open and i thought i might have time to explore them. still well outside flagstaff, the wind...

Snow! 24 Hours from Phoenix to Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon and Back

i start heading north more, the map shows some lava flow as you get close to the indian land. i'm very close to the 89, near the northmost entrance to the wupatki monument. i never find the lava flow, but end up heading back south west. the skies get darker again and the wind picks back up...

    Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?

there is only one VSR, and only one is required. there are 3 manual switches in this diagram, the 2 on the outside allow you to completely isolate a battery for service or just to forcefully take one out of the automated charge/draw. the one in the middle allows you to self-jump manually (which...

    Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?

it's a excellent simple unit, i was looking more at their 710-300A (just a higher amp rating and a manual switch on the unit). as far as i read, it's almost exactly the same as the Blue Sea ACR unit that i chose. the main difference being that the BEPMarine VSR uses a momentary switch to link...

    Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?

    specific dual battery controller/manager question

thanks for the link to the parts, will check that out. i thought about a true digital readout, they are in fact cheaper than the actual tri-color indicators i want to use, but i prefer the feedback of a quick glance at color. i plan to wire 2 of these tri-color detectors (one for each battery)...

    specific dual battery controller/manager question

i do plan to one day have a winch and expect to be able to combine batteries when winching if desired. for me, going half-hog was the right answer. the automation of what i referred to as the "less-smart" systems (voltage sensing systems) is the right bang-for-buck that i'm looking for. they...

    specific dual battery controller/manager question

so here's my final thoughts on the subject, hopefully will help someone else make up their mind too ;) between "smart" automatic systems: National Luna and IBS are similarly priced and the IBS seems to have maybe a couple more bells and whistles. The National Luna Kit does come very complete...

    specific dual battery controller/manager question

edited original post with details that i could decipher on each system, and i think i've answered my own questions. the National Luna and IBS are also temporary about linking, making it hard to forget you left the batteries linked. the IBS even has a warning beep every so often.

    specific dual battery controller/manager question

dual battery management has been talked to death here, but i have a very specific question that i'm hoping someone can answer. when talking about automated dual battery controllers, what is the actual difference between so-called "intelligent" controllers and others? from what i'm reading, it...
