    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

In an interesting series of events, I made a recent purchase. Not the amount of cash I really wanted to spend at the moment; however, I knew it was coming for a while. Few weeks ago topped off the pressure in my tires at a fuel station. The cold dropped pressures to just below 50 - usually I...

Off grid cold starts with Ford 7.3 IDI (forced air option?)

Truer words couldn't have been said. IdaSHO is correct in that using a proper winter blend is best; however, over the last month I have found more than 80% of the fuel stations (yes even for big rigs) in my area that I have visited and called couldn't even say what fuel they carried, or what...

    OBS F250 Build

well it looks darn good from here! I had wondered if it was one of the eastwood products. From everything I understand, por15 is a poor choice for a long frame, it hardens and cracks easy. but this looks really great!

    Desires vs realities

Yeah super basic tradesman but works for what I do. It has a 5.7 Hemi. So underpowered when loaded down, and just eats gas. I get better mileage in my OBS actually... and it only has a 6' bed.

    Desires vs realities

Figured as much, but wanted to verify with others first. Well thanks for the eye candy! ha! Yes I realize newer is better, in terms of capabilities, comfort, etc. Just came back from a work trip in my gov. rig (2017 2500), and it is quick, nimble, quiet, great sound system - 50% of it's...

Ford IDI Diesel Fired Coolant Heater Plumbing (Webasto/Espar)

The Thermo Top Evo is about 9 L, 4 W,6 H. I'm sure it can sit sideways. I honestly don't know that I have a preference or reason between Wabesto and Eberspacher. A few years ago I tried contacting Espar and was not able to get very much decent information from them at all. The closest dealer...

maybe the best would be to be pre-emptive and seal all the potential leak areas upon delivery using dicore. Since that stuff is pretty awesome in itself.

    Diesel #1, #2, 50/50, and additives

So the issue I am running up against is that very few stations in my area actually sell #1 or a 50/50 mix. Which is why I ran cold flow all last year. Strange, considering temps here do get quite cold... Makes no sense. So the only other though is maybe these stations actually put additives...

    Diesel #1, #2, 50/50, and additives

Ok lets talk fuel - diesel specifically. Last winter, in Montana of all places, I have realized several stations still use #2 even in dead of winter - which is a nono for older trucks especially. Further, many attendants didn't know what fuel they had, or if they had additives. The stickers...

Interesting. I believe they say you can just bolt directly to the shell if you wanted to make any additions, and use a backing plate for heavy items.

Getting myself into the weeds - help me simplify wiring

quick down and dirty schematic, that I need to polish up for sure as it's not fully accurate, but gives an idea. Constructive criticism welcome.

This is awesome! What are you using for paint?

Ford IDI Diesel Fired Coolant Heater Plumbing (Webasto/Espar)

Finding some answers to these questions - FYI for other inquiring minds: Relating to the Webesto Thermo Top Evo: Can the heater/pump just be inline with the heater core hoses? Yes, it is designed to be in-line with the heater core hose, suggested install to be on the return line to heat...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

Figure it out yet? I ws thinking if it was algea (my filter is the same, but I change yearly) wouldn't you see performance changes? For me anyway, performance is the same. Thus far anyway.

The dickenson does not have a T-stat. Their diesel fireplaces don't either. I have one in my RV. Works great though, mine has been on 5 days straight now, with temps below freezing and drastically reduces the amount of time my furnace needs to run. It's basically like any house based...

    Desires vs realities

This is what I was hoping to hear - I realize new junk is better - not an option for me though. Just too costly to switch up now.

Getting myself into the weeds - help me simplify wiring

Its why I'm trying to go simple, and figure out the best method for the least amount of wiring while maintaining safety and a high level of functionality. I think having all the in cab components (7-11) ran off of a distribution block in the cab would be nice as it would reduce multiple wires...

    Desires vs realities

I was really hoping you would speak up, thanks! So remind me what was your payload (camper) weight? 2500 or so right? Did it wear out parts prematurely? What parts? Most of my components (axles, joints, engine, trans) basically all the running gear and suspension is brand new - well, 2...

Ford IDI Diesel Fired Coolant Heater Plumbing (Webasto/Espar)

I'm thinking more likely than not I will have to run a third AGM battery in the bed and run it off of that to allow the glow plugs and starter all the amperage - might also consider heat pads for the batteries too.

Redarc BMS 30, not for use in Cold temps

Interesting. -25C is only -13F. In my bit of the world, thats about the average winter temp.... I wonder if sticking to AGM, fabing up some heated blankets, and using a more old school method is going to be the way to go for those of us in colder climates. Obviously there is a solution seeing...
