Getting myself into the weeds - help me simplify wiring

Not likely. But the radios and compressor could be on with key off quite frequently. Glow plugs draw a lot of amps. So I dont want to cause any other additional key off drain on the main batteries.

How important is a relay for LED light bar?

Good points, and not to derail from the OP's question, but I think the argument can be certainly made in your favor for the majority of LED's available. But if you consider the high quality companies - vision x and BajaDesigns - then they are clear winners over halogen. I had high quality...

Getting myself into the weeds - help me simplify wiring

Ok so I have a series of planned events that I previously had a wiring diagram drawn out for but since have realized it was probably overly complicated... The overall plan was for the below items to be functional off a second set of batteries the same as the vehicle batteries ('97 OBS 7.3)...

    Desires vs realities

Ok, so getting closer to pulling the trigger on proceeding with my original, or somewhat original, build idea. Long story short: 97 OBS 7.3 CCLB - desire to add flatbed/boxes and camper of some sort (liking the Scout Kenai so far), capable of full time living, planned to be multipurpose...

How important is a relay for LED light bar?

The halogens of the older era (10-20 years ago) can't match a high quality LED output amp for amp.

How important is a relay for LED light bar?

Probably mostly depends on how you want it wired, and the amp draw. Like already said if you want it wired into your high beams. Back in the day most halogen lamps (pair) could pull 20 amps easy, for less than half the quality of light of a modern led. But a pair of XL80's from Baha pull 11a...

1993 Revcon Trailblazer - Project Overhaul

Awesome still...I had the opportunity to buy one 2 years ago, and passed it up. Now I wish I would have... it would have solved a lot of problems with life on the road. Such a cool vehicle!

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

For the power guru's out there. Whats your thoughts on the Yetti 1000 option as a temporary deal until one could install some victron energy goodies.

Ford IDI Diesel Fired Coolant Heater Plumbing (Webasto/Espar)

Yes, as a cold weather starting aid. I have a 7.3 DIT (OBS). Just steeling this thread instead of creating a new one....and couldn't find my own old thread on the topic. The idea is to warm up the engine, but also warm up the cabin. Block heater works, but the truck still doesnt' like sub...

Ford IDI Diesel Fired Coolant Heater Plumbing (Webasto/Espar)

Bumping this thread. Considering a thermotop C in my OBS ford. With the factory spare tire jack removed in the engine bay, it seems the perfect location for a heater. According to the fact sheet...

    OBS F250/F350 Flatbed camper build

Yeah same reason I went with the BD trans. Warranty and warranty able from anywhere, rather than even a well known tranny shop rebuild now being 10 hours away... Wasn't able to get a pic of the radiator with where the truck is parked, but both things I'm thinking of are on the drivers side...

    OBS F250/F350 Flatbed camper build

Curious why you went with a John Woods? I chose a level 2 or 3 from BD performance, they had a good warranty, filter kit, and cooler (although not liking how it attaches). Also, if i remember correctly I too got a mishimoto radiator a few years ago. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow if you...

    Dickinson P9000 or P12000--reviews?

one of the cubic mini stoves - probably the Griz - larger size. And make a heat robbing system to extract more 'wasted' heat from the chimney. It's well known wood provides much more BTU than propane. And, if you are wiling, it is essentially free - well short of a cutting permit from a local...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

I'm waiting to see more pics and videos of the Kenai, and some reviews people have - but I am seriously considering this as an option for full time housing. It is nice that it's a blank slate essentially, composite, and can be modified to suit individual needs.

    Dickinson P9000 or P12000--reviews?

I installed the 9000 in August in my 18' travel trailer - my full time home the last 4 years. Today it is 24 and snowing. Last month we had a weeks worth of below zero with a few days worth of -10. It works good. My original idea behind it was not to provide full heat, since it's only 5500...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

It was more on the service side - i think his experience with sales was fine aside form the sales folks not even understanding how all of the systems actually worked. But many things. So his trailer had an initial leak of the window seal from being a brand new trailer. The shop, instead of...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

I recommend being cautious with Apache. Maybe good for sales, but the Everett location kinda screwed my dad on more than on occasion with his 75K Outdoor RV over the last couple years. Without saying details, he told me a few weeks ago he will be learning to do all work on his own from this...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

Interesting. I usually get a full year out of my fuel filter and run amsoil cold flow in the winter, with #1 or a 50/50 mix. Its been the same darkness as yours the last 3 years. I wouldnt be surprised if our fuel is casing this coloring. Seems like fuels changes along with engines and...
