just a few eye bolts and cheap-o pulley's
Not too hard, just takes about 15 minutes to get on the truck, a bit longer to get it back up in the air.

Edit: this is an old shot I will show the new setup when I can snap a new pic.
I agree, if you have pro's coming for your trailer, you will walk out to find... no trailer.
I think a simple deterant will keep people from just lifting them out around town. I say call it a day.

As a 40 owner, I would suggest the OME suspension too. Just as mentioned about to get 4" of lift.
I would suggest getting the matching steering stabilzer and OME shocks. I would not suggest mono tube due to the fact that if I rock dents the housing you will loose a lot of performance. They are...
I have used a high quality jig saw with great results. A sawz-all is kinda hard to control, but a cut off wheel with a steady hand can do a great job.
For me, a Bosch jig saw with a good blade and a little cutting oil made quick work of my fj40 sheet metal.

I totally agree a 'biner is up to the task, however, with the way insurance companies work... I'd bet there would be a lot of talk if they see a climbing 'biner where a safety hook should be, it is pennies on the dollar to do it right and forget about it! :D
There is an old saying that you can do anything with enough, time, will, and money... choose two.
I have more time than money and will than good sense. I am building one from scratch to meet my needs. There are a few good things and bad things in choosing this option:
Good:
1. I can have the...
FWIW, I went to a muffler shop and asked for the quietest muffler before I started to loose performance. They gave me some kind of offbrand, but man it quieted down my exhaust note to the point I was shocked... and pleased.
Most non-chain muffler shops really know their stuff, and I would...
Con-ferr is a brand that used to make them. Every once in a while they pop up on ebay or off road forums.
Blitz cans used to make something similar as well for their jerry cans that could be easily modified.
Just a thought.

Gotta be honest. This seems crazy to me, you have a lot riding on the line if you ever need the safety chains to provide a fail-safe. The caribeiners could do it... sure. But it is such a tiny investment to do this once and do it right.
Once I had a trailer come loose and the chains held and...
Here is the route I am heading. I am going to add two spreaders that will determine the width of the fenders and then skin them in sheet metal. Not too hard if you know someone with a bender and the right die. I used 1" tubing in 16ga.
I will fit them before trimming up the ends to length. Lots...
I actually just started some custom fenders today, I will post up a few pics tomorrow. I just bend square tubing and I will skin them with 16ga steel.

Yeah, I plan for both. I am going to bolt the lower edge of the bottle to a shelf, and I can use a padlock on the mount itself. I will post pics once they are entirely final.
Thanks!
Perhaps, but the fire extinguishers won't fit, I checked there, and the other ones are really cool and could be made to work without much work. The idea is to get a rattle free mount that is secure in all directions. Plus they are 50 bones for two, my mounts cost me a bit more than 5 bucks for...
After that, I just had to bend the last tab over on the long side and drill a hole for the bolt to go through. Then I used an adjustable cresent wrench to man handle the bolt holes into place and I can bring the two parts together tightly by tightening the bolt.
You can see how the tank mount...
Here it is what ended up happening for me! :D
I worked on my propane tank mounts today and got them up and running. I had purchased a set from my local welding shop that open with a hinge then tighten with a wing nut (like the ones linked in post #21 by Big Geek). Once I had them in hand they...
