What vehicle is right for me

You should take a hard look at an Avalanche - plenty big for 4 and all gear and can tow and can get 20mpg and used will cost you well under $22K. Mods are hard to achieve though.............ask me how I know.

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Since you are not in a CARB state, check out a set of Doug Thorley long tube headers - they should help immensely. I was forced to use the shorty headers due to CARB and they added a little HP and a little torque, but more importantly to me - they pulled my torque to way earlier in the RPM band.

Craig - the way the Flashpaq works is, you connect it to your OBDII port, it will then put your stock tune into it's memory. Select what you want to to do and input that and it flashes your computer - your stock tune is now in the Flashpaq tuner so if you want to return to stock - just plug it...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Craig - there are a few different types of tuners. There are those that are more expensive that require you buy the tuner and then get a custom tune built into it. I actually have the lower dollar version - Hypertech Flashpaq because of a multitude of reasons: 1) Cost - it's cheaper; 2) The more...

As mentioned before - if you are looking for uncompromised quality - you only have two choices - Eezi-Awn and Howling Moon. Everything else after this is compromise in either fabric, flooring, poles, hardware - something. The original assessment from a major review magazine of the Tepui tents...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Agreed. So - for this fluid change - which I'm flushing it - should I stick with DexCool or go ahead and go with the universal? I seriously did not think there was this much DexCool left in my system - was I ever wrong.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Need some urgent advice - over the years I have added the yellow universal coolant that mixes with DexCool and the Green. I purchased all universal for this drain/flush/refill that I'm doing, but I just drained my system and it is still very orange (more DexCool in there than I thought. So -...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Gonna be a busy weekend wrenching on the Av. Got the charge wiring all changed out to 00awg and 4awg so that I'm getting all the amps. Installed a 225a Powermaster alternator, only to have my truck freak out because it was throwing .550v AC - suspect leaky diode. Pulled it back out and the...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

On the hoses - I bit the bullet and bought them from the dealer (ouch) but figured I've got 15 years and 180K miles on my factory originals so the new ones ought to last me that long again. On the plus side, the new heater hoses came with the new fittings already mounted in them. // Any good...

OOooooooooooooooo - you have a Howling Moon - I'm kinda jealous. I tried to get one of those for 5 months before I gave up and got the Eezi-Awn.

    Inflatable Kayaks

What were the pack rafts that were used on the tv show Ultimate Survival Alaska - there were some good size guys on that show and they carried them in their backpacks.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

So - AC Delco quality goes: OE, Professional, Standard, Specialty. Given that, the professional level hoses on RockAuto, Amazon, Summit, etc are a step below the OE that you get at the dealer.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Hey All - quick question on radiator hoses - are the ACDelco hoses on RockAuto.com the same quality as a Genuine GM hose? I know that ACDElco makes the GM stuff, but I also know that ACDelco has 4 different levels of quality for each hose. Since only 1 option is listed for my Av - I'm wondering...

Yesterday, I was outside looking at my Eezi-Awn mounted on my Av, and for the life of me I couldn't imagine a normal exploring/camping scenario where I would need to crawl or stand on top of it. If I want to stand on top of my vehicle - I built a really stout (and heavy) roof rack for that.

    "Skinny" tires on a Full-Size?

I think there's a lot of ways to interpret and determine benefits to the varying types of tire. Let's take a look at a few of them. First, a 35" tall tire in both 10.5" and 12.5" widths - when at the same air pressure - the 12.5" is going to have 20% more footprint on the ground. That's basic...

Looking for Washable Seat covers with a massive array of pockets

I would be very interested in this as well. I've been on the hunt for quite some time. Note: The Smittybuilt ones are for a Jeep - if you have a full size seat that pouch on the front bottom will be up on top of your seat. You would need to look at their universal fit ones, which are for the top...
