    Which truck for me?

If you're carrying 100 gallons of extra fuel you had better have a 2500+. The original post specifically mentioned desert terrain as his dominant environment - and in that environment I would take an IFS any day - because a solid axle front for long distances on desert washboard isn't a whole...

    Which truck for me?

Hi - not wrong place at all. Fuel efficiency should be a concern as that efficiency will directly correlate to weight because you will need to have the fuel on board somehow to go distances deserts require (I've had to go as far as 408 miles between fuel stops). 500-700 lbs will go away really...

    Which truck for me?

I think in the instance Rayra is referring to for me - I likely would have broken the shock towers in a 2500 as they are roughly the same as a 1500. However, as Rayra mentioned, a 2500 brings a lot more to the table if you are starting from scratch.

    Which truck for me?

I'm interested in hearing this as well. The ONLY thing SA is better than IFS is rock crawling and huge articulation situations.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Tough crowd. I took 1000 pics - Overland Journal picked the pics they wanted to use. Did you read the online or the magazine? Magazine has a dual page spread. Longer version? Dude - that was a 12 TWELVE page article - it's the longest Overland Journal has ever run before. I have my gps files -...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

OK - I've waited long enough - not one of you have mentioned reading my article. I'm butt hurt.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

I wouldn't wait to find out. The rub is on top so it only leaks when turning - in other words - there is no indication of a leak. It runs out of fluid and burns itself up with no external signs to indicate that it is happening.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

    All of mine is 00awg but I'm running a 250a alternator (170a @ idle, 205 @ cruise, 250 @ WOT). Twin Odyssey 34-78.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

If your transfer case is completely stock - then what you could be seeing in there is magnesium rubbed off the inside of the case by a sharp edged widget. It will slowly rub away the casing to the point that it creates a leak at the top - which you can't see - and then your transfer case burns...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Do the AC Delco. My original lasted 12 years before it went out. The cheaper brand replacement didn't make it 18 months. I put an AC Delco back in it.

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

A childhood friend - he's been a fabricator his whole life - and has done most of my Avalanche. He was the kid whom for his 5th birthday I got him a soldering gun. He got my bike stolen, so he owes me............LOL.

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Hi and Thanks!!!! I do have the files and am in the process of vetting them with BLM and NPS (that could become long and drawn out). I'm also working with MDHCA to get some better mapping done and get alternates built into the files. Reason being - ground conditions in some of the areas will do...

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

Yeah - I already have 2.0 with twin valving and extra large reservoirs and are adjustable. More importantly, mine are custom built by my childhood friend who designs shocks for the most well known companies - so whatever adjustments or revalving they need they'll get. I have to have them redone...

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

Interesting.......my understanding was that 4.10s were in MOST Z-71s and ALL NFEs. I think you just disproved my understanding. What is very interesting is that the torsion bars in the Z-71 I just got are 1.30" thick while my NFE bars were 1.35" thick - a 23% spring rate difference. I just had...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Thank you for the compliment - it really means a lot. I had replaced the rear sway bar so not a cause. The cause was - I was on the freeway and changing lanes when the dude in bro dozer 12" lifted F-250 in front of me slammed on his brakes and I had nowhere to go. 8000lbs at 45mph does a lot of...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

hahaha - yup. No worries. I'm putting all of my stuff in it - including my interior so - it'll be essentially a North Face. A hell of a lot more NFE than the idiot who tried to sell me an NFE that was clearly a base model with NFE seats in it.

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

I destroyed the NFE - the new one is a Z-71.

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Actually - and surprisingly - I'm not planning to change much as I had my Av pretty dialed in. The things that I know I will change is get my snorkel closer to the A pillar this time and go ahead and run a bot longer connection to the air box. I am also considering adding in either a half bed...
