San Elijo Hills - June 5, 2012
Out and about in the hills of San Elijo. I'll be honest, I am having a really hard time getting motivated to ride. It seems I have ridden most of the trails around and with the temperatures rising I find myself looking for excuses to not get on the bike.
On a...
Thanks for the encouragement! The grass is always greener on the other side. I would love to be back in Arizona even with the heat.
Yes I am, mine failed on April 3, 2012. Post #225 page 23. It turns out you just need to replace the bearings and not the whole bottom bracket. Cost for the...
La Costa Beach Ride - May 30, 2012
Finally hit the beach at the right time! Low tide was set for around 11:00 am. I took off south of the jetty at Ponto Beach.
Along the way I came across this bamboo structure. Looks like a work in progress.
Rounding the corner by Swami's.
Several...
Current milage on the Moonlander is 1,469 miles. The rear tire is like one big slick. The front has a little bit of the knobs left. On the road it is not really a problem. On the trails I am losing traction. I ordered two new tires the other day. Cost $99 a tire. I am not sure if I will...
Quick Trip to the Bank - May 29, 2012
I rode the bike around to San Marcos to drop off some money at the bank. Nothing impressive, just a few more miles on the bike.
Distance 11.8 miles
Elevation 914 feet
Moving Average 11.5 mph
Critical Mass - May 25, 2012
Miles and I took off on another great adventure down in San Diego. We got a late start around 4:00 pm. First stop was Tecolote Canyon.
We rode three different sections making our way north to the 52 freeway.
At one point we ducted into this drainage tunnel to...
I think the hoist is used for the spare tire? I'm betting there is a different way to get the bicycles down.
My local bike store had this on hand, Boeshield T-9. So we sprayed it thru all of the openings that we could get to. So far it looks like it is working well.

San Elijo Lagoon - May 22, 2012
It is starting to heat up out here in San Diego. I noticed the marine layer was down by the coast and decided to take advantage of the cooler climate. I live 7 miles inland and it is bright and sunny.
The beach looked very inviting but once again my timing...
Overland Expo 2012 - May 20, 2012
Well I was lucky enough to make it out to the Overland Expo. The event was fantastic. With that said I spent more time helping out Zach from Overland Gourmet then riding my bicycle. Here is a shot of Mormon Lake.
Looking back at camp. The bike turned out...

Oh and Ethan is feeling better and doing well with his new scooter.
I hope to see photographs of your new Moonlander in the Netherlands!
Well did you make your move on the Pugsley? Another idea would...
Picked up the Jeep - ORW - May 11, 2012
Got the call that my Jeep was ready. It's my wife's Birthday and Ethan is complaining about his stomach. Got the boys off to school, and made a beeline to Off-Road Warehouse. Nothing really to report other than I spent 15 minutes waiting on Elfin...
I think you are right! Problem is the tires are really expensive. I am just over 1400 miles documented on the bike. At this point I almost want to see how far I can go on them. With that said I should order up a pair for when they do go because the local bike store is not going to have them...
ORW - May 9, 2012
I dropped the Jeep off at ORW to have my rear differential looked at. The noise at highway speed was getting really annoying. From there I took the easy way home with only 515 feet of elevation.
Distance 11.1 miles
Elevation 515 feet
Moving Average 12.3 mph
Quick Spin in the dirt! - May 7, 2012
Riding out at La Costa Preserve.
I believe this is my fastest time to the Boy Scout Kiosk. 17 minutes 46 seconds from my house. Looks like it took me a minute and 5 seconds to catch my breath and get the camera out.
The trails are getting dusty...
