Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

ITTOG, with your welding skills, I'm looking forward to your version of this DIY awning! It would be sweet on that camper you're building. Just have them sew up an awning, while they're sewing the pop up! (y)

One other nice thing about a cheap tarp/tent. When the National Forest doesn't accept reservations for that beautiful camp site you finally found in the mountains, you can mark your spot with the tarp when you get there in the morning. Then take your rig exploring for the rest of the day.

Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

I'm still interested in building a 270 awning for my camper, but for now I created this cheap tarp system for about $35 plus some tent spikes I already had. I bought heavy duty screw together tent poles because the pieces were short enough to get in this small tool bag. $7 tool bag $12 10' x...

Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

Thanks! I already picked up some new tent poles, but these 6ft rods have me thinking of all sorts of possibilities for awnings.

Has anyone seen a Gladiator with a Wilco Offset Hitch mounted spare yet? Or has anyone found a reasonably priced swing away hitch mounted spare option? I still want to mount a 38" spare to the back of my Gladiator, but don't want to spend $4,000 to do it. I'd like the spare to be on the...

Mess Kit and cooking: Mess Kit: The $7 Harbor Freight tool bag works out nicely for my mess kit, and fits in my kitchen cabinet. The little round electric pan/griddle pictured also works as an electric plate for my coffee pot. The pockets in the tool bag are great for keeping the utensils...

I found a perfect spot for my solar generator, in the sink cabinet. It currently charges off the 400 watt Gladiator inverter. This way, whenever the truck is running, it charges the battery. As long as I drive about an hour a day, this is enough to keep the battery charged and keep my ICECO JP42...

ITTOG's Truck Camper Build (was 6' x 12' Trailer Conversion)

Go big with the windows, and don't forget the screens & shades. At first I thought I overdid my window size, but now I love the size of my picture windows, when the weather is bad. Nothing better than waking up to a beautiful view. I still need to add screens and shades.

Alright, you've got me on the departure angle. I have to admit I've dragged the trailer hitch more than once in the dirt.

For those of you who don't know Dan Grec, he is the author of The Road Chose Me series of books. He's been watching this forum and I think we almost convinced him to do a Gladiator Expedition build this year, but sadly, he went the Wrangler route. Great video Dan, but I obviously have a bone to...

Your build reminds me a lot of "Gregor" featured in Van Life. I love that truck. Their pull down bed design shown around 14 minutes into the video and electric top are great.

Wedge vs. pop-top is something I still struggle with. It's a complicated decision. Wedge is simple to build, works simply and is easy to open/close (with a tailgate to stand on) Pop-top gives you a lot of extra head room, but is complicated to open and close (usually opened/closed from inside)...

Does anyone have a recommendation for collapsible tent poles. I carry a 10 x 12 tarp in my truck for those rainy days, and need some poles. My ski poles are too short!

I'll probably hit Rocky Mountain NP on the way back. I love that area for mountain biking / 4 wheeling in the summer and and snow mobiling / skiing in the winter. These pictures are in Arapaho National Forest just south of there. This was in August and this road was covered in snow a week...

Thanks @1000arms! I've added Custer Gallatin National Park to the list. I'll be camping close to Red Lodge Montana, off the Beartoohth Pass for a day before I drop into Yellowstone. So far it's a 3,000 mile round trip in two weeks. Every morning after breakfast, I'll drive to the next...

Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

I was walking through Harbor Freight and saw 15" tool bags for $7.99 today. I pickup up a few for the camper. They fit nicely under my kitchen counter and seats. One for the kitchen, one for dry goods/cans, and the other for tools.
