    U-Joints - Need Some Info

My Av still has the original u-joints - after 179K miles and 15 years, thinking I'm going to swap them out. But, with the 4.88 gears, locker, 35x12.50-17 tires, loaded weight for long duration treks, and the increased trail usage - which type of u-joints should I get? Greaseable with the hollow...

Why is Howling Moon So Bad at Business?

Interesting. Based on this, I sent HM an email the other day - no response yet. For the record, I don't think that is the case with Wil/Sierra. The reason I say that is I contacted him looking for either an Eezi-Awn or a HM tent - he sells both - so I figured that would be a more credible way to...

Avalanche Owners - Have You Ever.....

Blocked off the drains to the outside of the forward most cap just inside of the sail panels? I'm looking to add a little more room for my new fridge toward the sides and the gutters run from that drain to the final dump drain at the rear near the tailgate. Both of my runners have been duct...

    Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 price check

Just looked at a brand new ZR2 yesterday at a Chevy dealer - MSRP $44K + $20K Dealer markup!!!!! That was for the V6 - add another $3K for the diesel. I told the salesman that they are idiots - GM finally makes a midsize capable of knocking the Tacoma off it's pedestal and the dealers are going...

    Backend Bottoms out easily...

Yes - for when you are loaded. I would look into the air lift bags that go in your coils. They worked really well for me - inflate when loaded, deflate when unloaded. Simple and effective.

Which comes first - Fridge slide, or solar to power fridge?

Wby not add a third consideration: Installing a dual battery setup? It would resolve your fridge power issues and give you a backup for while you're out and about in the back country. I also just purchased the ARB63 and the slide (haven't installed them yet), but I already have a dual battery...

    Backend Bottoms out easily...

I rant the #1000 Air lift bags in my springs on my Avalanche and they were pretty awesome. I decided to go all in which added more weight, so I swapped from my stock springs to Eibach Springs for a Hummer. Coincidentally, just prior to changing to those springs, on our last trip through DV, one...

Why is Howling Moon So Bad at Business?

I've been researching RTTs since the Fall and came down to Howling Moon or Eezi-Awn as my RTT of choice due to quality and longevity. My decision was between the Howling Moon Stargazer Tourer 1.4 and the Eezi-Awn T-Top Xklusiv 1400. I chose the Howling Moon for it's additional features of the...

    Anti-Sway Bars with RTT?

Yes - I was thinking of that. I found Warrior Products actually makes some, but I've heard that once you disconnect them it is a real b@#ch to get them back together. My daughter's Jeep has the quick disconnect and that is really easy and nice.

    Anti-Sway Bars with RTT?

Hi, I have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche very modified and have recently built an overbed rack for RTT. The 2002 has coils in the rear and torsion bars in the front. I have changed to Hummer rear coil springs and custom Fox 2.0 shocks so the truck is quite a bit stiffer than stock ride. However, I...

Best way to get hot water? heat exchanger, tankless, tank, etc.

I was looking into on-board hot water, but I spoke with a guy who has a Suburban setup for overlanding and has on-board 30 gal tank, heater, and sureflo pump. When I asked him how much water he goes through he said, "Not much, it takes me and my wife the entire weekend to go through the 30...

Craig - I have a set of fog lights if you want them. One of them was less than a month old (body on mine also cracked - think it was the right one) when I redid my front bumper. Yours if you want them.
