    My 02 Avalanche NFE

A few more sneak peaks of the RTT rack. Got the Rotopax dual mount fabbed in. The trick on both sides of the rack is to have the stuff far enough inboard that I can still access my saddlebag storage, high enough up that I can remove the caps, and far enough out that I can load stuff on top of my...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Here's a sneak peak of the new sliders. I'm not a fan of things that hang down and since I'm not running a lift kit - keeping things as high and tight as possible was the priority. Can't get much tighter than this.

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Work continues on the: Overbed rack for the RTT, sliders are done, roof rack is done, shocks are done, rearend truss is done. Just picked up a few more goodies: Hummer Springs made by Eibach to handle the increased weight of the racks, RTT, fridge, etc. The demands of longer duration - longer...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

On the rack - removed the plastic to gain access to the metal underneath. A lot of folks don't realize it but that sail panel is actually designed to function as a roll bar so it's pretty stout underneath the plastic. Undecided right now as to how I'm attaching. Original thought was to weld it...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

The covers have latch handles underneath that rotate 90* to lock. Two locks per outer 2 panels, 4 locks for the inner panel. They hold 250# each - but will hold a lot more if need be. I weigh 240 and can stand on them and they don't flex.

    10 lbs C02 System

Since I added an ARB Air Locker, I had to switch to an onboard air compressor and no longer have a need for my C02 system, so it's up for sale. If you don't have onboard air, this is the best way to be able to air down and air up your tires for varying trail conditions. What's included: // *...

    GMT-800 5.3 alternator recommendations?

A question: When going to a higher output alternator do y9ou have to change the serpentine belt to a different one? I haven't found an alternate part number for my belt, so I'm curious if they are better internals or if they are spinning them faster with a smaller pulley.

    GMT-800 5.3 alternator recommendations?

My alternator is original 105a and is now 15 years old. Never had any issues with it, but was considering getting a high output one. Now I'm starting to rethink that...............................

    Avalanche questions...

Body doesn't flex - it's a single piece as mentioned - like a suburban or Tahoe. But, Jeeps, Land Cruisers, and Land Rovers don't flex either so I'm good :) If you are going to overland one of these - there are some weakpoints that you should address. My 02 Avalanche is my build thread - but...

    Avalanche questions...

Seat bottoms fold forward, Seat tops fold down. Mid gate drops down. When you fold the seatbacks down - do NOT have your finger(s) underneath or they will get cut off - ask me how I know.......I had to have the meat of my ring finger from the knocukle forward reattached.

    Avalanche questions...

I've owned my Av since new (2002). Yes - you can drop the midgate and leave the window in and the caps on. I disagree on the number of Avs out there - Chevy made them for 14 years - that's a lot of trucks with only minor changes (except for the front end config). Most parts are interchangeable...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Hey Rayra - Nice meeting you and hanging out last week and glad the brakes worked out for you. I need to get some time to sit down and write up the DV trip report - it was a big trip and I've been too slammed to do it justice. But - here's a lesson I learned on that trip - rough trails with...

    Watches - ExPo Style

Mine is a Rouchefoucauld. The thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is *the* sports watch and it tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris...

    Too big for an overlander??!!

Welcome. No your rig is not too big to do trails - it's the same size as my Avalanche. You just have to know your limitations. We just went through Goler Wash and Mengel in Death Valley - I can't get much (any) tighter than that. But, I avoid things marked "Jeep Trail" or SWB vehicles - and look...

Whats's the new "best battery" for an overland vehicle?

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

    General Grabber X3 sound off

I have them 35x12.50-17 and LOVE them. We've put them through rock, sand, mud, water, hard pack, washboard, snow, ice - and SoCal freeways. Very little noise, great wear (so far), and they "grab" in everything. Will buy them again when the time comes.
