Hi - do you still have these? I'm looking for the Spring 2008, Summer 2008, and Fall 2008 issues. I will buy them from you. Please let me know. Thanks.
No on the air down. I normally drive around at 36psi. I had heard about the sharp rocks on the road to Ft. Piute so I dropped just to 30 to do the road - also given the sand I felt that was a good number. However, on Day 3 with the deep blow sand and water ahead of us - I went ahead and dropped...
Mine sits perfectly level - love it and it rides great. I never liked the 2" nose down rake mine had stock. When I add weight to the rear, I have 1000# Air Lift bags inside of my springs. Fully loaded out camping and exploring - rig is perfectly level.
I was asking the question because I want...
Very nice write up and pics. Love DV. Can't wait to get back there. As MartinJmpr said, Furnace Creek kills you on gas. I had to fill up there, then when I got to Stove Pipe Well - the gas $1.70/gallon cheaper than Furnace Creek. With a 32 gallon tank - that kinda hurt.
I still struggle with the math on this. If the nose is down 2" stock, and you level it - you are raising it 2". So, if you then add 2" spacers to the rear springs, how is it still level? Seems like it should have the 2" rake again. It looks great.
Shaw Pass - this is interesting. In my planning for this trip, I noticed that that marked "Mojave Road" in Google Earth continues straight against the right side of the mountains rather than making the left hand turn called out in the Mojave Road Guide. I then checked the Lowrance routing in my...
Day 3 - the final day.

Up before the sun, fed, packed and back on the Road at 9am. We had picked up rocks at the Lava Tube to place on what would be our first stop of the day - Traveler's Monument. We also aired down just a tad (from the 30 psi we had run the entire Road at) to 25psi just in...
This place is beautiful and maintained by the family of the original owner and a 4WD group. It has supplies in it - take what you need, leave what you don't for the next person. Well kept and much appreciated. It had the BEST outhouse - you can't tell from this angle, but it had a really nice...
We made it to the Penny Can Tree in fairly short order. We all put our pennies in and took pics. The kids loved it, but I couldn't help but wonder if this is America's first toll road?
Upon leaving there, our next stop was actually a side trip North to the Lava Tube. Upon arrival, it was...
Our first stop for the day was Marl Springs, just a quick one to take in the history of the location knowing that EVERYONE who had traveled this road stopped here. Then it was on to one of the most anticipated stops of the trip - The Mailbox. I have to admit, my excitement level went up...

Day 2

Something to note: Black Canyon Rd is paved from the campground heading south all the way to I40. So, there are RVs in the campground. Other than those, we had not seen a single vehicle or person in our entire first day on the Mojave Road.

Yes - and nice!!!! Mine is an 02 NFE 1500 5.3L. I'm the original owner - lot's of mods. If you want to see the build thread on it (I don't know how to shortcut a link in this site) it's in the Domestic Full Size Forum titled "My 02 Chevy Avalanche NFE". Here's a pic of it.
Well - I don't know how to get the spaces between the paragraphs to stay when it actually posts, nor do I know why the pics posted as links. I also can't figure out how to delete a pic that then turns into a thumbnail. Any help is appreciated.
This is my first trip report recapping our first ever multi-day adventure trip - so be gentle, it's my first time. But, before we delve into that little tale, a bit of background is in order.
We are completely new to this multi-day mobility gig. We are well versed at base camping with our pop...
WOW - these are all very cool photos. We just did Mojave Road and I tried to take a night sky pic - with absolutely no idea what I was doing - the 40 mph winds didn't help much. I am truly envious of your skillset. Canon DSLR 18mm 5sec ISO 1600. Horrible pic. I do have a question for you guys...
I'll type up the trip report soon - just been crazy busy. I hadn't even been on Expo really since we got back - at Thanksgiving.
I could have done everything except the Mojave River crossing. I'll post the pic.. I MIGHT have been OK - but I would have for sure backed away from doing it without...
