Lid for off brand 10.25" cast iron skillet.

Thrift store and tape measure will be your friend here. Or cut a sheet metal circle and put a drawer handle on it. You might also get away with a bamboo cutting board circle. I’ve also used larger pans with flat bottoms as lids for smaller pans in times of need.

My holiday meal plan, but how to pull it off?

Count yourself lucky to have such friends. They are probably genuinely interested in your well-being. As such, they should completely respect your wishes when you tell them that you need and want the time to yourself. As a side note… dried mashed potatoes? Please don’t! Boiling a couple of...

My holiday meal plan, but how to pull it off?

Lol. That brings back some memories of butchering a deer one winter in my dads unheated wood shop. Everything was fine until the spring when we realized the hard way that nobody cleaned the band saw!

Anyone used commercial carpet tile in RTT?

So, I’m 1/2 way done and a little over 2 cans of spray glue in. This is now about a $200 project, for my CVT Denali, and I have a few top tips. 1) working with contact cement and carpet squares in a space with sloping walls is … difficult. 2) I think if there was a next time I would pull the...

    Sleeping bag options

I’ve also gotten several Teton Sports bags, mostly the kid sized ones, and found them to be simple, rugged, and warm. At the price point, they are good value for sure. I wouldn’t expect to take them backpacking very far due to weight and bulk, but for the trailer, they’re great.

    01’ TJ serpentine idler pulleys

If the system is properly aligned, you should theoretically only need 1 grooved pulley to maintain belt alignment. Some systems use more, but it should be okay as long as there is 1. Why would you choose to source idlers from a dealer for an ‘01? Any auto parts store should have complete...

Trailer build kitchen thoughts. Fridge stays in the Jeep? Sink worth having?

In the world of additional thoughts… my trailer includes a 30x72” table. I often carry the “cooking stuff” a fair distance from the parking/sleeping area when camping in bear country. I’m not sure how integrated kitchens deal with that, or if you just accept more risk using that type of rig.

Trailer build kitchen thoughts. Fridge stays in the Jeep? Sink worth having?

I keep my fridge and chuckbox in the Jeep all the time. I actually use it quite often at work to knock out sandwiches and such for lunch. A large crate in my trailer contains the more “permanent camp” stuff, such as fire pan, grill, Dutch ovens, wash basins, charcoal, etc…. The stove is...

Anyone used commercial carpet tile in RTT?

I decided to continue with this project. Bought a box of squares from Lowes today and immediately realized why they won’t work. They only have about 1/8” lines of glue every 1”. The adhesive is supposed to be a PSA, but I’m sure more than that is needed to keep up with temperature and...

Anyone used commercial carpet tile in RTT?

Fair question, perhaps my post was poorly worded, I’ll be putting in air mattresses, probably Megamats, but there will be 12-20” of floor open around the edges and I might vary the number or location of mattresses, so a carpet floor seems like a nice idea. I’m probably going to try it, as the...

Build what I have or New with goodies?

If you’re going the trailer route than a decent hitch and a brake controller are all you “need” everything else is a blend of want and desire. If it’s paid for it’s ready to go. of course, the JL will be much nicer for towing in terms of drive ability, but my JK hauls my trailer all over...

Anyone used commercial carpet tile in RTT?

I’m thinking about drastically reducing the mattress size in my RTT, leaving some open floor space that will be basically just diamond plate aluminum. I would like to see that covered with something “nice” and was considering using commercial peel-and-stick carpet tiles directly on the...

    Sleeping bag options

Temperature range / climate will have a massive impact here. You might throw that into your post to guide the direction of responses?

    Trailer light problems

Did you use a trailer junction box? If so, you may have 2 terminals or wires touching, or you may have landed the side markers on the brake terminal instead of the headlight terminal.

    A problem: big burbs 4sale

I recently refreshed a 99 suburban for about $3k, including a full engine overhaul, fuel injection system, full brakes, ball joints, steering components. It took about 200 -250 hours of my time, but a refresh is often more economical than buying someone else’s worn out junk.

Hey Mods! Is there a place to report suspected scammer activity?

If you don’t share the behavior, and perhaps the username, you are leaving others exposed to the risk. This is one time at which light doxxing is completely appropriate and in the best interest of the community. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

    Got Scammed by SAMUE

Haven’t many of us thought we were getting a wife for $5 and ended up much closer to $79k?

    4WD or Not?

In the situations you are describing, a fair number of people, me included, find the 4:1 Rubicon case to be “too low”. I’m generally completely happy tooling along as 5-6 mph, but often 15 would be a more reasonable speed, and that is too fast for my JK in low range. Your best bet is probably...

Recovery boards for hella heavy truck?

It is nice to see a truly useful application of the sand ladder / traction matt bolted to the outside of a rig! Nicely done.

Only AUX batteries getting charged, OEM batteries are not

Did you secure or sheath it better to prevent recurring failure? Typically I run short sections of Heather hose over cable at potential abrasion points AND securely bolt them in place to things like frames.
