    Post your tents

Daniel- I would say the 12" stakes would be more than enough for most any situation. They are pretty burly, way stronger than the standard included tent stakes that will bend if you look at them cross-eyed. :) Like I said, I haven't used them yet (they just got delivered today), but I'm...

    Post your tents

They are forged, and 5/8" diameter. No taper on them, just a pointy end. The ones I always made were only 1/2" diameter. Maybe a 12" bigger diameter stake will hold as well as an 18" smaller diameter stake, we'll see. I am curious to see how much harder they are to pound in. I hate pounding...

Tent Stakes Usually, the first thing you do when you get a new tent is to throw away the stakes that came with it, and get some good ones! I have typically make my own tent stakes in the past (usually 18" long). Bigger canvas tents work best with an 18" stake in my experience. Mine were getting...

Patching a torn sidewall on tire

Eurosonic- You already "wasted" the tire. No matter how much time and effort you throw at it, it will never have the "integrity" of the other three. Just throw it away and buy a new tire. This month, you just have to pay your "fun" dues. :) Dennis

    Seeking input on range tents

Cowboy Range Tents Dufferman- I've been using cowboy range tents for the last 20 years, and David Ellis tents exclusively for the last 12. In my opinion, there is no better tent design on earth. They set up in 5 minutes, they can handle snow loads, they withstand 60 mph (documented) winds, and...

Post your camping / gear lists!

This has been a neat thread to follow. Here's my list.......I don't take everything every time, but at least it's on the list for me to see. Vehicle spare parts, tools, fluids, recovery gear, etc. are always loaded up, so they're not on the list. FWIW and YMMV :) : TENT / A-FRAME / STAKES TENT...

    Post your tents

David Ellis Canvas Products I just received my new 8' X 8' Range Tent from David Ellis in Durango, CO. My 10' X 10' Range Tent from him (that I've used for 8 years) was too much room for just me and my dog. The new tent has a removeable awning over the front door, a screen door in the front...

    Fuel Transfer

I don't know if you can pour a can into the tank, or if you have to transfer it. I've used the standard ECO spout from Rotopax to pour fuel from their 4 Gallon can into my Bronco a couple of times. I was actually impressed with how well it worked, and it didn't leak at all.

My new to me Bronco expo ride

Instead of re-inventing the wheel, you could just build up a torquer 400 gas engine like I did for my '79. It'll bolt right in with no frame mods...... Dennis

Camping Fridges - Pros and Cons

Cooler Shelf I just got one of these for my ice chest.....a Cooler Shelf. I thought it was a pretty good idea, and for only $20 total I figured it's worth a try. It velcros to the sides of the ice chest, and it's made of mesh so it doesn't hold any water that gets splashed in when off-roading...
