Matthewp's Off-Road Camper Design (Recommendations and Critiques Requested!).

I have nothing to add, except this: Excellent drafting work! In this age of SolidWorks and such, it's refreshing to see someone that can still use a board and T-square. Good job! Dennis

Lowrance Baja 540c not mapping correctly

You might want to go into the Setup menu and see what datum the unit is set on. When I worked in the field we we're always changing the unit datum to match our paper maps. The unit datum should match the background map datum, which I'm guessing is WGS 84.

    Warn CE M8000?

CE Mark thejafe - When I worked in manufacturing years ago, our company had most of our products CE marked. The CE mark is necessary if you want to sell product to the European market. Getting a CE mark pretty much entailed lots of paperwork, documentation, and some fees ($$$). The products...

Where do you purchase your tires?

I've had good experiences buying tires from the following (in no particular order): Discount Tire Big O Tire Summit Racing National Tire and Wheel They've all treated me well, it pretty much comes down to which one has the tires I'm looking for in stock. Dennis

    How to carry spirits

Now that's funny! Some friends of mine went on a Mexican cruise (where you can't bring alcohol aboard) and bought a bunch of these: http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com/ I have no idea how sturdy they are, but they may be worth a look. Dennis

Charging batteries on the Mojave Road

Mikey - Yes, Buck and I had a rollover incident a couple of years ago. He was pretty much totaled, but my passenger and I walked away from it unhurt. I love the old "bumpsides"! Ruff is working out well too for both off-roading and camping. I can't say that I like one better than the other . ...

Camping Fridges - Pros and Cons

Fridges are great, and pretty much outperform an ice chest on every level. However, over the past couple years I've gone back to the ice chest. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the simplicity and primitiveness of it. On my trips, I rarely stay more than one night in one place (two max). I've...

Bronco Platform A lot of nice set-ups here! I've been using this platform in my '79 Bronco for about 6 months now. I built it around 2 plastic totes from Lowe's and my floor mounted spare tire. It's just me and my dog so there's plenty of storage for us. I built the platform out of 1/2" Luaun...

    86' F150 Build

Hobobrando- Most of the extended radius arms are built to give you stock caster at an increased ride height. If you run the extended arms at stock ride height, you'll probably end up with way too much caster and it won't drive very well. Dennis

    86' F150 Build

I'm not sure on your truck, but I had a '95 F-150 that I ran 32-11.50-15s at stock height. I'm figuring they'd be about the same. Dennis

    TRAILER SIZE QUESTION

Hey Carl- If you're a hunter I would suggest going with the 4 X 8. After a successful hunting trip, you have more to bring home than you took (and elk are not easy to pack!). Also, if you're sleeping in it, 8' will be much more comfortable and you'll have room for gear inside with you. Good...
