What kinda highway MPG's you getting with your full sized rig?

'79 Ford Bronco with a carbureted 400, Np435 trans (non-OD), 4.56 gears, and 35-12.50-15 BFG ATs. 9 to 9.5 mpg all-around (10 to 10.5 mpg if it's level highway). I hauled a car trailer with a '46 Mercury on it (5500# total) from Washington to SoCal (1100 miles) and it only (!?!) dropped to 8...

Hey Brian- I don't get down to SD as a rule, but it would ne nice for someone to get some use out of these. I'm typing on my phone now, if you like you can give me a call and we can get something worked out. (909) 816-2626 Thanks! Dennis

    Loctite/Threadlocker

Same here- flywheels, pressure plates, etc, and also any bolt that threads into a blind hole. For bolts with nuts I prefer stover (crimp) locknuts. Dennis

    Carb VS EFI

That was just one example. I don't get any blubbering or flooding over the bumps, uphill, downhill, off camber, etc. Like I said, I don't necessarily think that carbs are better than EFI, only that they aren't as bad as they are made out to be. Dennis

    Carb VS EFI

That was in my 72 with a 390 and a front sump. The 400 in the Bronco has kind of a center sump so it seems OK pointed up or down. Dennis

    Carb VS EFI

My preference is for carburetors, but that's mostly because of my truck preference (70s Fords). I've run Holleys on all my trucks over the years, because I'm most familiar with them. Q-jets are good too, I just don't have any experience with them. Contrary to popular belief, carburetors DO work...

    Suspension Set ups

I don't know what vehicle you're planning this for, but the ones in your signature aren't really high payload vehicles. I suggest getting one of the custom spring companies (Deaver, Alcan, National, etc.) to calculate a spring pack for both weight conditions: loaded and unloaded. Then compare...

I've bought from Autofab for about 30 years now (mostly fibergass fenders and hoods). Nice folks to deal with and first class fabrication work. Dennis

Portable jump starter and air compressor

For an entry-level compressor, the MV-50 from Q industries works well for the price. You can even find them cheaper than this if you look around. It will work way better for airing up than the so-called compressors they put inside the jump starters...
