    Just an old Scout II

Welcome! Nice rig - glad to see another person using an older rig (I drive an early Bronco) for their adventures. Todd Z.

Converting to manual locking front hubs

I ultimately did the tradeoff that @Metcalf mentions with my '01 SD, which of course has locking hubs but also has unit bearings. I bought the truck with 14K on it 20 years ago and now have 232K on it. I had the unit bearings changed at some point in the past few years as a preventative...

    TJ hydro boost brake upgrade

I did the entire kit - one of only two kits that Blaine did for early Broncos. Todd Z.

    TJ hydro boost brake upgrade

The only downside I've had with my Black Magic brake pads has been pretty heavy dusting. I'll probably switch to some Raybestos pads in the future. Todd Z.

    Expedition Portal branded Trasharoo (SOLD)

I remember when that mass buy happened. I bought one around the same time but without the logo - a few years ago I dug it out for a trip and the straps ripped off! So I bought another one - hopefully the new one is better constructed. Todd Z.

    Bronco Rooftop camper?

Although their name is Phoenix, they're actually located in Colorado. Todd Z.

    Bronco Rooftop camper?

The Hallmark or Four Wheel Campers are about the only options for those rigs - I've never seen an Ursa Minor or that type for them. Todd Z.

Guess who's back!?! Atl-atl's K5 Blazer + Four Wheel Camper "The Crawlin Cabin" documentation thread!

Those eccentric shims have been around for what seems like forever - these days they're made and sold by Specialty Products Company in CO. They usually offer up to about 1.5 deg. of adjustment with caster/camber. They're actually pretty common and don't affect the strength of the...

Quadravan at Reno Pick n Pull with front axle intact

Thanks for letting us know! Those vans sure don't show up much in the pick-a-parts anymore due to their aging out (and not many made to begin with!). I found an '04 Quigley in my local pick-a-part here in Phoenix a few weeks ago. I was shocked to find it. Todd Z.

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

Yeah, those last years of the carb'd trucks was a bundle of snakes of vacuum lines etc. under the hoods. No fun at all to work on! The 302 got EFI in '85 and it just got better from there... Todd Z.

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

You're a mileage king! 55 mph puts a lot of those in a sweet spot in terms of mileage. That pesky drag as the square of the velocity really takes a toll on the Super Duties...my mileage plummets going from 65 to 75 mph. Todd Z.

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

Oh yeah, those :). I love my '01 SD PSD so I still consider that a "good Ford" that followed the '80s. Todd Z.

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

They continued to be good trucks! And arguably better than many of the trucks in the '80s because they all had EFI, etc. Todd Z.

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

The gas mileage estimates for all cars and trucks in the very late 70s/early 80s were always extremely optimistic/unrealistic. I remember seeing the ads as a kid (I was about 10 years old when the second gas crunch hit in '79) and was smart enough to know that most cars didn't get the mileage...
