I ultimately did the tradeoff that @Metcalf mentions with my '01 SD, which of course has locking hubs but also has unit bearings. I bought the truck with 14K on it 20 years ago and now have 232K on it. I had the unit bearings changed at some point in the past few years as a preventative...
The only downside I've had with my Black Magic brake pads has been pretty heavy dusting. I'll probably switch to some Raybestos pads in the future.

I remember when that mass buy happened. I bought one around the same time but without the logo - a few years ago I dug it out for a trip and the straps ripped off!

You're a mileage king! 55 mph puts a lot of those in a sweet spot in terms of mileage. That pesky drag as the square of the velocity really takes a toll on the Super Duties...my mileage plummets going from 65 to 75 mph.
