all those units are made in canada. anywhere in kijiji or craigslist or facebook market, there are tons of them. i got a few of them for around 1500$. very fun to work with and relatively light overall.
if you are in the usa...might be harder to find used unit but there should still be some...
high altitude function is important if you are to use it at different level. i live near the mountains and use my chinese heater at different altitude and love the option of the chinese heater digital control to adjuste the fuel to air ratio to any altitude very quickly. for 200$CDN, it as given...
looking at the close up pic on another site, i think this unit isnt finish yet. it absolutly need a rear bumper, at least to be legal in canada on the road. But if you look closely, there is lot of water lines and wires etc that are not connected and element that are not finish. So i m...
yes, i think we all have different view on what is offroad. in the context of this thread and talking about the EKKO and where you can take it, you can do some light offroad but it remain a house on wheel that was designed for paved road mostly. clearance is limited. Having 2 or 4 wheel at the...
i would say light offroading. The kind of offroading you can do with a class C /B motorhome that you lift and get some extra clerance. So logging road and forestery road of BC and alberta and rocky or sandy beaches etc. The transit platform is still limited in what it can do...and i dont think...
i have tested both the single rear and dually and the dually is a more stable ride but also a little harsher on the road. i have the dually and so far..in all the offroading i done in past 3 years, it never been a problem. I think the ekko could use a little more clerance but other then that, i...
i love glacier national park, it s about 4h from home and one of the most relaxing place! Illecillewaet Campground is my all time favorite in western canada.... just love it!
yes, my concern currently is the door. the one i have as a aluminum frame so there will be thermal bridging and a nice door like your is definitly expensive. That is the only thermal bridging i should have as everything will be fiberglass. But the small tear drop we had had significant ice build...
no heater is the small teardrop but that special thing about teardrop is 2 people and a dog and it goes up to 10 degres inside quickly even in cold winter!
But now building my own composite camper so it s fun to see exemple like yours!
beautifull truck and camper! i m like you, i love winter camping for the quiet and empty places! banff is great in winter! in summer, i find boondocking to be more fun and for alberta/bc, banff, jasper, vancouver island etc... it s very easy to do so!
here s a few years ago camping in...
i m not sure how the E series compare to the Transit but i have a transit chassis cab that as the extra lengh 178'' wheelbase. (16 feet long frame behind the cab) i tested the flex i would see on this frame and none that i can really mesure. it s like a brick. so the box can be bolt direct with...
the pass thru for
-dogs
-kids
-making lunch
-toilet
-seeing on all 4 side of the vehicle at night
-i love been able to take off quickly without having to get out of the vehicle. It might never serve a purpose but i sure allow me much better sleep at night!
-pass-thru with a door, allow to keep...
a diesel heater is a great idea and much more efficient. i have a chinese diesel heater in my current van and it s been amazing and cant recommend it highly enough. reliable, easy to install and cost less then 200$ with all the attachment and pieces.
dont you have a furnace in it? you can keep that running while driving and that will keep everything from freezing. you might have to open some interior doors so the air goes everywhere if it s really cold but that is how i would do it. i had a northern lite years ago and those are the best...
what would you suggest or consider a good door? the one i source so far is insulated but it as the aluminum frame and from my experience build small teardrop trailer, it will freeze inside and be cover with a small layer of ice during winter time.... done this....was no easy! and i love winter...
the craigslist add is classic Callen style adds like he use to do years ago so i think that is really him. classic lack of details, using craigslist and no or very little photo. he is good at making camper!!! not advertising!
not all van are created equal. A 170 or even better a 170 EXT and Transit HR EXT make for very strong winter performer as they naturally are easy to load the rear axle. Mine (transit 350hd ext) is truly a excellent winter vehicle and didnt even consider AWD when i purchased my second van.
but...
I m pretty sure you meant 156 wheelbase. For the cutaway and chassis cab, the wheelbase length are not the same as for the van, they come in 138, 156 and 178.
that is expensive, here in canada i use a aluminum distributor and pricing in CDN$
.040 4x8 58$
.08 4x8 105$
.125 4x8 150$
perhaps aluminum is cheaper here tho?!
