One of the reasons I wanted the 1HZ inline 6 non turbo toyota diesel is that there are so FEW things to go worng that would strand me. Sure there are things that will make it run worse like valve adjustment being out, or weak injection pump but for the most part there just are many fatal parts...

while there are physical & emotional issues....I have found that the most severe are in a persons mind. It is great to see a family get out and travel, that is the most life enriching thing possible. And PolarXJ, cool to hear about the brother boosting :)

I don't consider this a hi-jack as finding parts is part of owning a non-US based rig... I have not had any issues yet at all. Example....I have factory dual tanks, and needed a gas cap. There is a website toyodiy.com that let me look up the part number and while I could have had the Toyota...

if it was made more than 25 yrs ago you have no issues....I just registered a Troopie from Oz that is RHD here in Arizona and both Emissions & MVD thought it was cool that it is RHD. No legal issues.

Terry I gotta say I really admire your willingness to try different rigs and fit what fits your needs & family vs what is cool. What are your thoughts on the interior? Will you try for a sleep inside setup? Cool van and we really need to get out on the dirt and play now that you are back on...

as basic and low budget as it sounds I really think a pop up awning would be perfect for your needs. you can get them small & compact enough to carry in the bed of your rig and when up push it right agaist the tent to cover your tailgate. You could even get the walls to make another enclosed...

I was wondering more about finding parts even around the USA....and for $110,000 I was curious about how long the warranty period was and who would do the work. Brake pads could be interesting to track down. I really enjoyed riding in one and seeing how it did on the street, however they did not...

not trying to be mean... but when I visited at the US importers operation there were some questions that came to mind that still need some thought. Who would do warranty work on the chassis & engine? Where can parts be purchased? and a few other things that I hope they work out as we need as...

Oh they are trying to set it up with diesel engines... but the main focus is all electric and then hybrid. Some of SMB West & my concerns were: Warranty work? Who & Where Parts aval? Cost ($100,000) just for the rig, plus more to build a camper box Registration/title issues for all states final...
