In terms of the additional features...
I selected : 6.7L I6 Cummins HO Turbo Diesel Engine, 6-Speeed Automatic Aisin AS69RC HD Transmission, GVW Rating 11800 Pounds, 3.73 Axle Ratio.
Now the options
Then. The Level 1 Equipment group gives me a bunch of stuff that I don't care for, but...
Ok. Some decisions were made:
1. We will go with the RAM 3500 Crew Cab 4x4 - 6'4" Box
2. We will go with the Cummins High Output engine
3. We will go with the Big Horn Trim level minimum.
Next decisions to be made:
1. Full list of features to add.
2. Color selection: Metallic Gray, Dark Blue...
I agree with you.......but If insist in the power seats. the bill jumps out a lot, due to the trim difference + getting rid of chrome. Which doesn't make any sense if Im going to get rid of the bumpers if I do the AEV thing........this is exhausting.
If I go for the basic, I think I can find...
Here is the same, which poses a huge conundrum. Waiting for confirmation from dealers, but it seems that one can only get power/heated seats with minimum BigHorn level, which comes with horrendous chrome finishing and you have to pay 1000 to remove it.
Buying a car is a very annoying process...
If I do the Prospector package, the bill gets large. And this is not including some desirable things like:
leather seats
differential covers
winch.
I could save around $2100 if I use Bilsteins 5100 instead of 8112's.
If I go for this, I'll be basically indulging my inner child. My Prius is...
I was looking into the scenario where I just get the 3500 tradesman and go. That car has everything bare minimum.
Maybe too bare, I don't care for luxury, audio or a lot of technology, here are my minimum requirements:
Heater/Power mirrors ----> 3500 Tradesman check
No Chrome finishing...
I was thinking that perhaps the 3500 is overkill, but If go for the prospector or down the line I want to add more parts, it doesn't seem so. Additionally, its very interesting that in this table, there's an option for a Cummins with 4.1 axle ratio, which I don't see available anywhere.
Not even tires to a RAM 3500 Tradesman?. I'm also curious to know if the weight in the back that I'm putting is enough to load the vehicle to smooth the rough ride of the 3500 leaf spring suspension.
No, I have a Prius, a Land Cruiser and a Range Rover....
Also an update. The outfitter says I don't need to do anything to the suspension of a RAM 3500. I need to clarify if this means no wheels and tires. Kind of surprised by his answer, but It's a good thing $$$$$$$$.
Yes!, I need 2 separate sleeping enviroments.
I think the protection is useful. I'm planning on exploring the beautiful and challenging backcountry roads I have just minutes away.
Not intended to be a daily driver.
probably 1 4day trip per month from April to November. And 1 or 2 weekend trips per month in the same period.
Say more about this please
Very interesting. I think you can get the high output Cummins in 3.73. I also read, but now I can't find it, that AEV can...
These potential added passengers are mostly family visiting. But even if I go the lean option, which frankly is quite restrictive and will have me thinking and weighting everything all the time.....I would be in the 1700-1800 which is upwards of 94% of max Payload, on rough roads and long...
This might be the toughest decision of all of them, So far I can establish two facts:
1. Diesel Engine is $12+K more expensive and heavier.
2. Diesel Engine has way more torque at low RPM which comes in handy where I live. But even this needs to be tested, hopefully dealers let me take it to a...
