if modifications are required I guess it makes sense to allow you to tow any trailer, as long as it can be done with out impairing the vehicle's performance. best of luck
you could use a run under bar, with a receiver fabbed in. in the UK they are require should someone rear end you they wont disappear underneath, but lift up when departure angle is required. found this picture of one, just below the razor that hangs of the back of the truck

So I have a drop in liner in my truck that comes up and over the rails and I'm getting a used cap, the cap is one that snugs over the rail as well so the two won't work together . Should I cut the drop in liner down and try use it or throw it out/sell or will it just flop around and bug me? Any...

How about a steel plate 1/4" thick surrounding the lower door in a U shape? Some flanging to keep it square or let the wall hold it. Or thinner steel but a "fatter" U
