I need help and advice on finding s camper for my new 1/2ton truck.

This is a common misconception. The roads to Alaska and in Alaska are not difficult or dangerous. The biggest problems likely to be encountered are a flat tire or running out of gas due to poor planning.

I need help and advice on finding s camper for my new 1/2ton truck.

https://overlandex.com/ I’m leaning towards the Camp-X for myself. I’d also recommend a 2500, the 1500 diesels only have about 1500lb payloads which you’re going to be exceeding with a camper, gear and people. My Ram 2500 will get 23mpg driving back and forth over the colorado rockies at...

    Power Wagon In Europe?

Would’ve been a lot easier and cheaper to just pull out...maybe a couple times ago even. Do the Chinese still pay good money for little American children? Having lived there before I can say I would never want to own or drive a truck that size in Europe. It usefulness is extremely limited and...

    Built FORD Tough!

Extending the hitch and extending the trailer tongue both have the same effect on the truck and increase the leverage the trailer weight places on the truck. It’s like using a long breaker bar, you aren’t pushing any harder but the force exerted on the bolt is much higher.

The Trans America Trail in a 2019 Ford Ranger

I know it's an older post but I ran into those in August as well. That "gate" and the one on the other end of the road are not the standard rancher built style. They both would require tools and extensive time to open and close. Instead of the normal loop of wire across the fencepost they were...

Putting a FWC Hawk in a short-bed truck?

Look at a super cab f-150 with the 6.5’ bed. It will take up about the same space as the crew cab in the garage and the backseat is still a pretty decent size. A pretty much fully loaded XLT with the 3.5EB I looked at buying had a 1900lb payload.

    Medical gear

I used to carry nasal and oral pharyngeals but took them out after my job stopped training to use them. I figure I'll rely on physical positioning of the head/neck to keep the airway open and hope no one's face is smashed enough to need tools to do it. A CPR mask is something I need to get and...

    Medical gear

I’m about the same. A few tourniquets, pressure dressings/israelis, cravats, sam splints, gauze, quick clot powder/gauze, medical tape, and the usual basic motrin and bandaid type stuff. I keep this stuff in my truck all the time because you never know when you’re going to need it. My kit is...

    Taco with GFC in Cali

It’s also listed for sale in Denver so it might be a scam. The guy is definitely trying to capitalize on the demand and make a $1000 profit off a used camper as well. The combo with the truck is also way overpriced.

    Open Carry in Wilderness Areas

That is the entire reason to carry a firearm. It’s not jewelry to wear around looking good, it’s a tool meant to defend yourself against that which means you harm or to use to kill your dinner.

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

I don't need or want to justify buying them. My personal experience with breaking cheap boards repeatedly justifies the purchase of a better quality product.

    Colorado / Canyon bent frame

Keep in mind that the ZR2 actually was designed for offroad use. Tacomas simply swap some basic parts out and change the badges on the sides and say they are designed for off-road use. The TRD Pro has no better offroad upgrades than the standard TRD Offroad, Toyota just swapped on a different...

Sleeping in my Xterra in bear country. Where should I keep my food?

Stop being so scared/worried and just go. I live where there are far more bears of both types around daily and haven't died yet. A little bit of common sense and preparedness along with a realization of how blown out of proportion the "problem" is will go a long way.

Pan-Am Highway "Expedition" Build - 2015 TRD Tacoma

Better not let your wife know you said her and the dog weigh 430lbs, I don’t see that working out too well for you.

Pan-Am Highway "Expedition" Build - 2015 TRD Tacoma

The bumper with swingout is only about 40lbs heavier than stock, it’s a pretty good trade off with weight for an relocated or extra spare tire and fuel storage.

Sleeping in my Xterra in bear country. Where should I keep my food?

You have to know the area you’ll be in as well. Popular areas with a bear population means bears that know people have food. Where I live and camp there are tons of bears but not enough people for them to become acclimated and understand where the food is. We also shoot them, eat them and turn...

    Roof Top Tents and wind

I did when I had a RTT and never had a problem. Also never had problems sleeping on the ground, in a tent, in a hammock or in my GFC currently.

    Roof Top Tents and wind

So wrong. If it smells interesting a bear will get right into it, a tent 6’ off the ground will not stop it. I just watched a brown bear crush a 55 gallon steel drum with one paw by leaning on it. A truck or tent won’t stop it at all i forgot it wants in.
