And, if you’re a tablesaw wizard, you can use 3/8 or even 1/4 Baltic birch and cut the weight even more. I finger jointed my entire chuck box out of 3/8 Baltic birch and it is delightfully strong with no lost space to corner framing.
If they have your wheels and tires and other accessories, you must have either had them delivered, or dropped them off, therefore you have or can find a former address. I would make this an in-person visit if I were you.
More woodworkers in the world and the tube adds thickness and removes space. No reason you couldn’t make welded tube drawers if you have the tools and skills.
So many F250/350 in salvage yards. I would start there, pull an entire harness and brake controller, then get a full wiring diagram for your van and start piecing it together.
So I love my max coupler for a few characteristics. It is tight, quiet, follows nicely, and articulates like a mad dog. However, it is such a pain to align for connection, and to unload the pin for disconnection (I have no other driver, so it is all solo), that I am thinking I need something...
I would think that the trailer frame lining up with the tow vehicle setup is important, it it hangs far below, you have a major anchor that will have to be dragged over or through something someday. I would personally put more effort into that than worrying about tent height for ride quality.
Yep, forging with the stove is a pretty good description of what happened to my camp chef. A burner on full blast for almost an hour, with a full 16 quart Dutch oven on it resulted in a bright Orange grate that warped like crazy, a 1/2” of burned food in the bottom of the Dutch oven, and who...
The total meltdown and boil over of my trusty camp chef at the hands of my daughters Girl Scout troop. I was able to hammer the grate back to “approximately straight”, but I’m now thinking something easier to clean would be a good idea.
Hi,
Recent events have me thinking about takin the dive into a 22” cook partner stove, but with prices approaching the equivalent of an actual kitchen range top, I’m a little wary of buying sight unseen.
Anyone in central California or the north side of LA / Ventura county willing to take an...
It shouldn’t be all that hard to find a local sandblast place to brush blast a trailer frame for a couple hundred bucks and powder coat a zinc primer on it. After that you can brush on RustOleum or POR-15 and be good for a long time
I had a similar issue when the RTT was all the way forward on my Jeep. You need to move it back or put some sort of wind deflector/fairing in front of it to direct the air up and over. There is a slight chance that you can make it better by moving forward too, getting the tent “under” the air...
A good rule of thumb for industrial or construction diesels is 10 gallons per hour per 100 hp. Those engines run a long time at steady load. For a vehicle, I wouldn’t know how to size it, but considerably less than for a steady state load.
Even if the tube gets twisted a bit, it disperses light really nicely. Get bigger tube than you think, have a helper, pull the lights through with a string or fish line and expect to sacrifice one section at the pulling end. I’ve done it a bunch of times, it works with a bit of patience.
I’ve...
Glad you figured it out! A new battery (especially under warranty) is much cheaper and easier than some of the tear-apart suggestions we were thinking of before.
That is a really broad question. Will the tires be under the body or in addition to the measurement?
In general, I find it annoying when you can’t see your trailer. I tow an AT Chaser behind my JK, and it is not always easy to see because it is a little too narrow, however, if it was any...
