There is more threads on this forum section alone on converting e series chassis to 4x4 than all of the internet.
Maybe do some research? There are recipes (and parts) for doing this.
The truck suspension connection points don't blend very well with the van chassis. That is if I'm interpreting...
I should have mentioned, I have Atlas springs front and rear. The fronts took 5 weeks to receive, I feel they are to stiff (that said,I came from a Tundra).
The rears were second hand from another member, they were to low for his (Atlas sent him new ones) but perfect for mine.
I would find a competent local spring shop. I really don't see how leaf springs can be built through mailorder.
The result I have seen is the prices have doubled so they can cover the screw ups. Springs going for $600-$1200 plus freight shipping that costs $350-$400 locally.
Atlas can probably...
Damn....
Other than having 45 holes to fill its looking pretty good.
I did consider welding these holes up but it could turn into a bigger problem, as the metal is thin, fatigued, and besides, I wasn't confident with my welding of such thin metal. So I stuffed the holes with Thixo thickened...
Because of my carelessness my poor BATVAN has received body damage.
I was backing up to my garage pushing a trash can on wheels with a piece of 19mm plywood on top. When the plywood hit the door jamb it remained flat and the edge of the board compressed the lower corner body work.
This is a...
Have you driven with the Tern Overland window open yet? Or is it not advised?
Would a second row passenger be able to crack it a bit and get air while driving?
I'm pretty confident in the strength of the box.
The strength doesn't really come from the thickness of the wood so much as the multidirectional panels, their joints and the epoxy's ability to make that more of a monocoque. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monocoque
Its stiff, solid, beats like a...
Im interested in one of these if/when you start making them.
The roll top is smart, makes it waterproof and usually adjustable in size. Its how dry bags are made, https://amzn.to/2tpltqP
Howdy, thanks. Yes, I mostly applied with a brush, I did use a plastic scraper to help push the epoxy into the fiberglass tape and spread it around. I did a final pass with the brush using the "tipping" method. I was working quickly to assemble it because I didn't know how much time I had. I did...
Been following this thread since it started. Thought I would make my contribution.
For the past 25ish years I have carried my kitchen kit in many types of containers.
Being a carpenter I always knew I could build a chuck box but felt that wood wasn't the best material for a strong, lightweight...
Why would it be harder with a rental?
Pick it up on your lunch hour and leave town earlier because it has everything but groceries already on board.
I mentioned to Nate at trekkervans that clients could use a grocery delivery service and have them delivered to the rental shop during their...
I would advise against doing such large areas like a vehicle, by hand vs spraying.
If you do so, work with very small sections at a time.
Its a real bummer when the foam roller starts coming apart leaving little chunks in your texture and you cant get the texture consistent because the coating...
I have followed this thread since the beginning and wanted to chime in with the direction I went.
Having a black camper van means I prefer to park in the shade and most of the areas we camp are heavily tree'ed anyways so a portable panel has always been my primary consideration for this...
I went back and looked at the shop manual for the 2006 E350, 501.14.12, regarding trouble shooting the keyless entry system does ask that you retrieve codes and if they do not pertain to clear/erase them.
This is the beginning of the troubleshooting sequence per the manual. For what its worth...
Recently the last of my two key fobs had bit the dust. I made them last as long as I could. Even after the tabs had broken off that the key ring attaches to I just drilled a hole right through the corner and threaded the ring through the body. But now, even with new batteries they would not lock...
