I am a fan of the GMC Safari vans. I seen some real nice ones well under $10k and a buddy of mine picked up a super nice one a few months ago for $10k. All kitted out already and ready to go on an around the wolrd drive. That is a hard price to beat for a 4wd van already kitted out.
Keep in...
Getting there now!
Snorkel is on and done, by the way I don't like notching my new snorkel for the power antenna but hey I did it and it is done. Just don't understand why it can't be made for our market instead of just RHD. Front end is all rebuilt on the truck now too. New XS Power batteries...
Leaving on Monday the 2nd. Wow it has been a slog to get to this point! Over six months I have been working on this a lot. These last couple weeks I have worked many days in the shop over 12hrs and a few over 16hrs. I am getting really tired but I must push on because soon I am on the road!
It...
Five years later and I am now sponsored by TRAK. I am heading out in less than a week to drive to Tierra del Fuego and will be kayaking many locations along the way!
In my opinion the TRAKs are hard to beat for the type of trip Ia m taking. Being collapsible they just do not take up the room...
So no need to modify the belly skid or weld on the sliders. Don't know why I was tripping, just looked like it was not going to work. Skid is all on and done, got the front end completely torn apart and am most of the way through the snorkel install. BTW, I really dislike how one of the grease...
Sure looks like it needs it to me. I don't really want to notch the skid, kind of feeling like welding on the sliders is better, mostly because then there is no interference with the brake lines and such on the inside of the frame rail.
I will be in to the skid plates install tomorrow. Rear...
Thank you!!
Getting close now, I leave Wyoming in 2-weeks from today.
Our sponsors are coming through, we got all our Adventure Medical Kits gear and our Stolhquist gear. Both were very needed. I have been to my travel doctor, got shots I needed and a bunch of prescripts. Closed down one of...
For sure! Put on Slee sliders and rear bumper last night. It is looking like the Slee belly skid won't work with bolt on sliders because the u-bolts will interfere with the belly skid. If that is the case I will just weld on the sliders and dump the u-bolts. Should know today.
Believe it or...
Thank you for the offer, much appreciated. I think I need to pick up a 3rd TRAK Kayak in SD that I am delivering to the new owner in La Paz. My sister lives in LA. My time is very limited, I leave on January 1st and have to pick up my buddy in Mexicali on the 13th.
Cheers
Oh ya, our TRAK Kayaks showed up yesterday! These are a new color scheme and design which I can't show in detail until they are released in early 2017. However, we have boats!! :wings:
Cheers
Valley Hybrids and Cruiser Brothers has joined our team of sponsors! I have known Georg for awhile now, in fact he has my old Warn 6x6 Pinzgauer.
I will be stopping by the Valley Hybrids shop on my way south through California to get front & rear harrop e-lockers installed and a brake upgrade...
Pretty much on the home stretch for the build now. I have the following in route,

-Slee full skid plate kit.
-Safari snorkel.
-Slee step sliders.
-OME 2864 rear coils because this truck is going to get real heavy real fast.
-Weathertech Floor mats.

A friend of mine and myself spent the last week installing a Turn Key 390hp LQ9 v8 and 4L80e transmission into his 1996 LX450 this last week. I am super jealous! I don't like linking offsite but I am just not going to do a build thread here for the truck. So if you want to check it out I have a...
