Reliability Toyota --- Coming from a Land Rover Owner

Don't feel like it before my trip. $700-800+ in parts plus at least a couple days to do it. Rather spend that time making money and the Cruiser can eat my $800+ when I am ready for it to eat it. Plus my valve covers are leaking so I plan to do that at the same time which = more time and $$$...

Reliability Toyota --- Coming from a Land Rover Owner

I bought a 2000 100-series last November with 125k on it. The truck is 16yrs old. I drove it 2,000 miles home, all I did was check the oil. Since I have had it home it has been way below 0* many times, the 100 starts right up even at -30*. The chassis looks like new on this truck, granted it is...

    97 LX gets a v8 and more!

So a buddy of mine in Colorado has been on the hunt for an 80 series with a bad motor or with high mileage. He wants an 80 with a v8 which is why he has been seeking the truck with a bad motor. He has been looking for like 3-4 months at least but I think we just found the right truck 100 miles...

    1968 Patrol! "The Ghetto Patrol"

I recently sold this truck to a client of mine. Next month the engine gets rebuilt. We are just going to put this truck back on the road for now and not do any restorations. New seats, rebuilt engine and few other small things is all that is planned for now. Cheers

    Dilemma deciding what to get

At first glance I thought the 91 LC pictured was a 100, must be the paint scheme on it. The 91 Cruiser will have the 3FE, a heavy lack luster engine with not much horse power. It is reliable but doesn't get very good mpg and like I say is slow. Not to mention Toyota has been discontinuing...

    Goodbye to my 80 series.

Hey at least you didn't smash it like I did. You will like the 100 but it will not go where your 80 did, even fully built. Laying under mine last night though, I was wishing it was my 80. Way more room under the 80, higher off the shop floor made working on the 80 much easier. I need some ramps...

    Going Price on 100 Series/LX470?

    ExPo 100 Series Registry

Thanks Kurt, interior has a few little things like the typical stained front seat belts. Bit of wear and tear on the shifter knob but I just bought a new one from Japan. Few chips in the paint here and there, nothing major. What is really nice is the chassis and engine bay, looks brand new with...

100 series LC/Lx470 vs Land Rover LR3 vs 1st generation Sequoia

I wouldn't run 87. Congrats on the 100. I wanted an 03+ for the 5spd and a few other things but settled on a 2000. Cheers

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Just did 1500 miles in that. Never thought I would own a 100 series but it is a sweet rig and will serve me well. Got between 17.3mpg and 14.3mpg depending on speed. Awesome how the truck feels the same at 80mph as it does at 50mph. I even slept in the Cruiser one night in the last week. Cheers

100 series LC/Lx470 vs Land Rover LR3 vs 1st generation Sequoia

Not an owner yet but will be in a few days. Done my research before buying so know a few things.... -What year 100 series is best and why???? 98/99 if you want rear locker. 2003+ got the 5spd auto trans. 2000+ got a 4 pinion front diff over the earlier weaker 2 pinion. -What are the strengths...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Well, I bought a 100!! Or should I say am buying one. Flying out to PDX Wednesday morning to pick it up. It is a 2000 with 122k on it. Lived all it's life in Santa Monica and Culver City before being sold at auction and ending up in PDX. For the first decade of it's life every single oil change...

I drank the 100 kool-aid. Flying into PDX next week to buy one. 2000, always a California truck, super clean carfax and it only has 122,000 on it. Pretty solid price too. No big plans other than to lift it and drive it. Cheers

RMP&Os 1977 Patrol Ute build for overlanding

I did! ;) I decided 3/8's was overkill for all my frame plating, still using 3/16s on the inner frame rails but the rest is going to be 1/8". Just picked up a sheet of 1/8" yesterday. 3/8's frame plates are already made and ready to weld on. Also took my main drive gear in the t-case to a...
