Tip Top mine and Crown King

I've done that trail numerous times but not in recent years. You go past Tip Top and turn left at the 4? way intersection near the corral where the old cabin used to stand. Go up and over and come down Gold Hill into Columbia. Todd Z.

Tip Top mine and Crown King

That's the only remnant of an old road that I know of that comes up from Tip Top and every report I've read describes exactly as you did. I seem to recall there's even the remains of an old Jeep partway down the hill? You can't do it all the way via vehicles but you can come up from the back...

    Martin Canyon/Smiley Rock Trail Rehab

Guys like me - except I'm not quietly opting out because I think there'll be plenty of help :). I have to be in LA that weekend so unfortunately I won't make it. Todd Z.

What did you do to or where did you ride your mtn. bike today?

Borrowed my friends Surly SS 29'er last weekend and did some riding near home in Prescott. This spot was on a little trail called "Pete's Secret Trail" near Thumb Butte. SS and 29s were a lung buster for me, but I still had a good time. Todd Z.

    New Powerwagon Concept

Todd Tenbroek from Fox posted this shot over on rdc recently that shows the front end of the KORE truck. And Kent Kroeker posted the following in the same thread: "I am very tempted to post some photos of the Raptor Killer sitting in our shop. It's pretty sick. The reveal will occur at Moab a...

6th Annual DeSoto Mine Trail Ride

Reviving this thread since I just happened to see the new issue of 4 Wheel Drive and Sport Utility magazine (April '10 issue) tonight and there was an article on this trip in it - 2+ years after it happened! I had asked the author, Jay Kopycinski, about it a year or more ago and he told me the...

Official "My name is..." "And I ride..."

My bike choices seem to match my tastes in vehicles as well - I tend to go wtih the classic or older-styled bikes. My mountain bike is a mid '90s Ritchey Project 20 and my road/town bike is a Rivendell Atlantis. My Rivendell has moved its way up the sentimental scale in the past few months...

SEMA 2009: Pictures, updates and discussion

I thought the "expedition" type equipment was definitely larger than years past. There were definitely a lot more roof-top tents, trailers, etc. this year too. Of course that's just my totally unscientific opinion. It's also nice to see real, usable 4WD vehicles on display as well...

    Brisbane Truck Show

I'll be there for about a day and a half - I'll take pix and post what I can. I often do "commentary" for another board or two as well so I'll try and snap shots of items of interest to the overlanding community. Todd Z.

    Anyone running a Bronco?

Yeah, still enjoying life in the Bronco world. And still selling junkyard parts to people :-). Although it's been awhile since I've sold any Cadillac calipers. Went and inspected the new cage under construction today for my trusty Bronco, and charged the battery on my Stroppe Bronco and got...

    2011 Super Duty Info...

I've got about the same thing - '01 Lariat with leather, 6 speed, white, crew cab, short bed, manual hubs, manual shift t-case. Not too many like it out there - when my buddy who ordered it that way wanted to sell it, I didn't have think twice! Todd Z.

    Mil-spec Mastercraft seats...any info?

I didn't know until recently either. I learned that a majority of Mastercraft's business the past number of years has been military contracts; the off road seat business is actually a very small percentage of their overall sales. Todd z.

    1966-1977 Bronco

Sounds like he's planning to build something very similar to Gary Yorston's Bronco in B.C. Gary's truck is about what you describe above in the specs except it has a propane injected 351W and a ZF 5 speed instead of the 435. It crawls, it jumps, I have a shot of his GPS that shows 102 mph on...

Arizona Traverse Project: Segment Three, Jerome to Flagstaff

My g.f. and I did the Verde train last year in May for her birthday. It's no Durango-Silverton trip but we really enjoyed it. Lots of wildlife along the way and we had a good guide on our car that knew a lot about the area and pointed out some neat scenery and landmarks. We followed it up...
