Wilderness First Aid Courses in Prescott, AZ and Pagosa, CO

X2 on a great course, Kristina. You are a great instructor and I learned A LOT this weekend. Thank you very much. Scott, Jeremy, Chazz and the rest of the OJ crew: thank for opening your HQ for this event and extending your usual great hospitality. Todd Z.

EcoBoost F150 for Peterson's Ultimate Adventure

I really like the final paint scheme on the truck. The Gulf racing colors from the 60s are always good in my book. Todd Z.

"Fixing" the rear suspension on the Raptor

Two reasons: keep the shocks under the bed so the bed is undisturbed and also maximizing the efficiency of the shock. Todd Z.

    Triple Aught Design

Unfortunately they didn't have my size in the sale last month but I was able to pick up a Stealth hoodie a few days ago on Ebay. It arrived today and even though it was 108 here today, I was very excited to try it on. Fits like a glove - I'm really going to enjoy wearing this jacket this fall...

    Mint 1985 4Runner on Ebay

Referenced on BaT this morning: http://bringatrailer.com/2011/07/30/blue-chip-runner-38k-mile-1985-toyota-4runner-sr5/#more- You may not want to use this as an expedition vehicle per se, but since many of us consider the '85 4Runner a pinnacle of sorts, I thought I'd link this beautiful...

    Ultimate Vehicle Fire Extinguisher

Whatever type of extinguisher you decide on, try to find a spot where it's easily accessible by both the driver and co-dog in an emergency. Every second counts. Todd Z.

JK Overland Project: Expeditions West 3.0

Thanks for the report, Brian. I was thinking who in the OJ family might have kiddos and you were the only one who I thought might fit that bill. I figured we were being watched so we didn't get too close :). Scott was gracious enough to let me drive the truck for about 10 miles on a trip back...

JK Overland Project: Expeditions West 3.0

Saw it parked yesterday at Lake Mary just south of Flagstaff and it had...gasp....car seats in the back. It appears much of the former gear I was used to seeing in the back has been removed. My buddy and I were on a car road trip and I quickly radio'd to turn around when I saw it. I didn't...

    New mod to Cactus Red!

Thanks for the chuckle this morning, Mark. I think her sister almost did the same thing to my Super Duty on the way home from work yesterday with her Honda Accord. Todd Z.

    7.3 Powerstroke Super Duty questions

It's really hard to go wrong with the Icon stuff - they really know the Super Duties - started doing them when they first came out (under the Donahoe Racing banner until Kreg had his....ummm....errr....issues). I have the bracket kit on my truck and like it. It replaced a very stiff National...

Torsion bar? Do you mean track bar/panhard rod? Todd Z.

    New to site...early bronco driver!

Lars is always the canary in the mineshaft on our adventures. We send him through the tough spots first and if he makes it OK, we figure we'll make it too :). His truck is what many of ours aspire to be. Todd Z.

    Converting to hydroboost brake system

X2 on the hoses. Since my hydroboost experience has mainly been in the arena of retrofitting boosters into vehicles that didn't originally have them, I'm a big fan of making your own hoses using re-useable hose fittings. It's actually kind of fun to make them with the lengths/end clocking you...

    Converting to hydroboost brake system

I'd say the hydroboost is actually better in case of catastrophic failure because the system reverts to manual brakes after you deplete the reserves in the accumulator. Once the reserve is gone from your vacuum booster, the brake pedal is hard as rock and it's difficult to exert enough pedal...

    WhereThehellisMurph, 3 Wheels, 7 Continents, 7 Years

Great photos, Murph!! Please keep 'em coming. I got a note from a buddy the other day who said they pointed you in the right direction towards La Paz at Insurgentes :-). Todd Z.

    Converting to hydroboost brake system

Looks like we were typing at the same time as you found the same info that I noted above. Yes, the CII pump with 2 returns is the '99-'04 Super Duty pump that I think will work in your application. Interesting that Ford uses the CIII pump (the small one in your pic that uses an external...

    Converting to hydroboost brake system

Totally forgot about the Powerstroke being an option since so few vans have them. I'm guessing your firewall and pedal assembly would be the same between the two years so the '98 parts would bolt up easily. If your '96 already has one of the plastic CII pumps on it, you probably don't even...

    Converting to hydroboost brake system

If you've swapped hydroboost into at least 12 different vehicles now, this should be a piece of cake for you! As I'm sure you know, the challenges boil down to slight powertrain differences between the vehicles. Without doing a google search to confirm, you probably have a 351W or 460 in your...

Overland Clothing Selection: Post your favorites

I have found I like the convertible pants for backpacking where minimalist packing is the order of the day. Otherwise, they sit in my closet too. Todd Z.
