MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

I could not find a clear photo of your rear springs, but if you have a convention spring pack (that is what my 1017 has), you might want to see if you can upgrade to factory parabolic springs. Last week a couple from Germany were at my house and their 1995 MB1124 has those. What an improvement...

1986 Mercedes 1017a camper PRICE DROP. 10k need sold ASAP

Speed -Some real-world data (all speed via GPS). I have a 1979 1017AF (firetruck version, with an unmodified OM352A) and with 395/85-20s it is very happy to cruise along at 55 mph. The sweet-spot is 62 mph. On the flats, it can hit 65 mph but really works for that and is not a maintainable...

    1017 gathering of two

Below is a link to Bill Caid's (Green 1017A) webpage that has the spare tire carrier build. http://www.billcaid.com/2019/Lance%20Trailer%20Build-Out%20201812-201904/Part15/Part15.html It is a very clean set-up. You pull a locking/safety pin, then you can rotate a handle 180° that disengages...

    Abenteuer & Allrad 2019!

Here are some maps (disregard map 'interest points', they are just what Google had) Parking and bus area The camping area. I had no problem parking my rental car in the 'teal' area Overview

    Abenteuer & Allrad 2019!

I went last year (2018), it was awesome. Here are some suggests from a 'first timer' there. I would say one day for the official show if you get there at the opening when it is not too crowded, and one day for the camping area, which is just as interesting as the show. I would recommend Friday...

Build your own Fuso FG6 4x4 based camper/overlander!

Good point. It defeats the whole purpose of the underride bar (Mansfield bar) that truck has.

(finally) Pulling the trigger - Magirus 170D11

Do not get the steel rim. They are over 100 pounds (45kg) each and have a 50-50 offset (backspacing). I don't know how your adapters will be made, but I don't think the rims with built-in regulators will work if you want to flip them to change the offset from front to rear. With an adapter, you...

(finally) Pulling the trigger - Magirus 170D11

If you end up needing wheels it sounds like Jonturgeon has a good source in Europe. His truck is an MB, and he wanted 22.5s. but it sounds like they can build to any spec? https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/mb-1120-coming-to-america.190398/page-2#post-2469359

(finally) Pulling the trigger - Magirus 170D11

I might be off on the measurements, but it looks like you might end up 14 feet tall (430cm) ?? Both the US and Canada are limited to 13'6" in general, and this is HIGHWAYS, not secondary roads, etc. And certainly not off-road. US CANADA So are you limiting yourself to just major highways...

    4x4 Winnebago Lesharo......Hideous Awesomeness

It comes down to size (length). The Renault engine was mounted transverse, so unless the 'replacement engine' is mounted that way (traverse V6s are a popular 2wd swap) the shorter the better (see doghouse photo back a few posts). 210hp is 3-4 times the original HP. But I'm all for someone...

    4x4 Winnebago Lesharo......Hideous Awesomeness

Yes, that is a pretty one. As you are probably aware the Renault engine/transmission was the weak link. The cabins are great. And a 4x4 one of these would be very cool. Hummmm, LaSharo wheelbase is 145 inches, 82 inches wide, 11th generation (2004-2008) Ford F150 SuperCab w/ 6.5' bed or Regular...

    4x4 Winnebago Lesharo......Hideous Awesomeness

It would seem he uses 'all wheel drive' and 4x4 interchangeably? The ad is hard to understand due to grammar and spelling, so you are best to give him a call. The clearance between the doghouse and the driver's seat would seem to be a problem? On the factory units, this is all flat floor. Just...
