Yep,
It feels more like a few friends occasionally sharing pics from their builds than what the forum used to be.
Mostly it seems like I'm here to post my updates as my own personal journal, see what you, @PlethoraOfGuns, @Bikersmurf and a few other people are up to, plus see if @mgmetalworks...
I'm disappointed you didn't make the corners match the Crestline corners, but I sure can understand not wanting to do that much fabrication work. All kidding aside, looks good.
@PlethoraOfGuns Yep, have an LSD in the rear plus tire chains. It is surprisingly capable. However, it's not quite good enough to reliably get in to (and out of) my fave weekend escape spots.
Yep, purely through good luck (not via planning) I ended up with one of the easier drivetrains to convert. At least in terms of E series vans. :)
Every truck I've owned for the last 15 years has been 4x4 so it's been weird to not have that option on the ambo.
Yeah, as you know I've flip-flopped many times between whether to do the 4x4 conversion or not.
I have an FJ Cruiser so it's not like I need a 4x4 but there's been enough times in the last couple years that I really wanted 4x4 on the ambo. Not for running trails but even just the ability to...
Kit was roughly $2K USD. Cost a couple hundred bucks to get shipped to Alberta.
If you can source an entire donor for a good price then this is certainly the least expensive 4x4 conversion for people that aren't into fabricating their own brackets, etc.
Not counting rims & rubber I expect to be...
Winter in the Canadian Rockies is not that conducive to making much progress on your camper when it's parked outside. Fortunately we've had a couple warm spells in Alberta and I've made some more progress recently. I even got out for a weekend camping trip too.
Big accomplishment - I now have...
hmmm.. I hadn't thought of the parts. @Abitibi If you don't have plans for the breaker panel I'd probably take it off your hands. @Bikersmurf I'll be redoing my electrical later this year. Let me know what you need as most the stock electrical is coming out.
Nice score David! Trailer seems like a great option for people with kids. Plenty of extra room for gear/toys as well.
Suspect you'll be making money on parting it out/selling scrap.
Not 100% sure but isn't the 925 run from the engine driven AC compressor? If so then it won't actually cool from shorepower, but the fan will run)
This is probably the manual you found but just in case it's not. https://www.proairllc.com/pub/media/pdfs/commercial_product_manual.pdf
Just a bit of food for thought. Why not buy something as close to usable as possible and get out to enjoy it?
Just about to start on the 4x4 conversion for my ambulance. Once that's complete it will tick about 80% of your initial requirements for about a 3rd of the cost. Plus you could have...
Take a look at my build. I cut a hole in the floor and connected my diesel heater to the aux fuel port. (it's not under pressure). Good to know that the pickup for that line only goes down to about quarter tank.
