We are home after a fun weather trip home. Everything from snow to fog to 50 MPH crosswinds. The truck did GREAT.
Cleared out the "delivery" truck full of parts and starting the interior build. YAHOO!
OAT and I designed the subframe, around the Kelderman mounts. In doing so we used existing holes in the frame to mount the subframe mounts and guide plates to the frame. We did not want to drill any additional holes if we did not have to. No issues. The DEF tank filler sits just in front of...
Buckstop…..stop.
The guys at Buckstop could not have been nicer! The snowing and windy weather was no fun to deal with so they cleared a place in their shipping bay so we could pull in and load up. Our order was ready to go and set aside. The crew helped load and were VERY CAREFUL around our...
Thanks man! Kind of like looking in the mirror for you! THANKS again for the build thread and videos! Helped a BUNCH!
Everyone said we did not need the supports with just a 4’ overhang. Can always add them later if we just want them for off-roading.
STOKED! Cheers!
Picked the camper up today for the LONG trip home. We depart WA for GA tomorrow. Rides and handles very well. A little off-roading at the OAT shop. Box articulates on the subframe as designed. I will be building some form of subframe rebound system down the road. A little noisy rebounding...
Cont. MPT 81. Already purchased. Before the price increases and only 6 months since manufacturer. The shortest, narrowest, tire with the load capacity required. What I would really like is a 37” tire with a 5,000 LB or greater capacity.
A few more pics.
1 thing I left out of the measurements. The exterior box and subframe, are 94” wide.
We planned the box to be wide enough to cover the tires on each side by about 3/4” and also to align with the inside of the stock Ram mirrors so can see perfectly down the side of the box...
The planning paid off……BIG TIME!
We can not begin to tell you how many times we measured our blue tape on the floor, helped with actual floor plan size. We moved a few lines and changed things a little here and there, but the results!
OH….As it sits now it is 23’ 4” from the very front of...
RESPECT!
After watching our Total Composites box being put together this week by OAT I have a TON of respect for you doing it yourself. It can be done in the right shop and with a few friends but it takes a BUNCH of work. My hat is off to you man for your DIY!
CHEERS!
We will miss our 24’ goal by a foot or so on the long side but wanted a rear wardrobe, left of the door as you enter. Think smaller ER.
Some details: A few people have asked?
84 CA, 168.5 inch wheelbase
The end of the subframe and box are 13’ even from the back of the cab.
The box is 12‘9”...
I did forget to double check with Buckstop for the extra hole for the valve stem. ?
We used that setup on our inner motorhome tires and they worked fine for 7 years and 55000 miles so that would be my alternate plan. I thought about going the monster valve route also.
Thanks for the info.
Well it is funny how things work out! Just got off the phone with Buckstop, about an hour before they close, and the ENTIRE order is ready for pickup next week! Steel wheels it is!
THANKS everyone for the input! Hopefully I did not cause a glitch in the matrix ?
All the aluminum custom made parts for our box, and two others, came back from powder coating today.
NICE! OAT also fabricated the 45 degree covers for the front wall to roof long seam, inner and outer, and a custom made wind deflector for the large roof hatch.
Ok……asking for opinions.
We ordered a bunch of items from Buckstop 6 months ago. As I have stated before the order, most of it, is ready for pickup on our trip home in a week. It saves us $1500.00 in shipping.
Now the question. Buckstop is having problems, supply issues, getting the outer...
They are running all the marker lights and exterior lighting wires this week, before the caps are on. ?
A few custom made aluminum caps are being powder coated, pick them up tomorrow.
Always great advice, those darn crossmembers! We looked at the placement but until this thing is all...
