I like the electric, but sometimes the ice is just easier. One thing I do is bring a smaller cooler and feed the ice from a bigger cooler, that way I’m not constantly opening and closing the main ice cooler.

I would go with something more simple, I have already had to change mine once. Pro comp makes some that are relatively inexpensive. They have been on a few years now with no problems.
I always buy the Costco kits for my cars, I think there usually crescent sets. I have one that’s been in my Jeep for 10 years, used a lot with no problems.
I have them on my Jeep. They were helpful on the rubicon trail as the rocks would move around after you drove over them sometimes causing an issue for the back tires. I would say for the cost etc probably worth doing.
