;) Dang dude, you know we've all been carrying on convo's in your build thread since...well...like forever!
Good to see you are alive, well, and moddin'

Greetings. While i realize after reading through this (and the OP's other thread where i made _a comment_) that the "Wanderer"/OP has not posted for many months i just wanted to say You Go Guy. Hats off to you for having the courage to buck the RV-norm and go with simple amenities and the Happy...
Greetings Wanderer, While i do realize it has been over a year since you have posted on this forum, i send well wishes and hope your adventure continues!
I just found this and your other related thread (tips for stealth...) just before dream time so i'll be back tomorrow to read through both...
Still all up in the air. Basically i know that at some point my wife and i will be happy with shifting to more traveled routes once we hit ~65ish (i'm 56 now). So we would have a purpose built rig and most likely sell both the current van and our small 15ft fiberglass trailer and stuff all the...
I agree with the popularity issue linked to the _under the radar_ perception. They are such well rounded rigs for casual overlanders willing to build light.
And just sayin'...our rig will most likely be one of those _5 year old_ up-for-sale situations. Cari & I will be doing something different...
Our rig has a 10 foot Fiama F45. It has now seen three seasons of hard use and we are quite at ease setting it up rain or shine. We use the legs on ground with a single stake in each leg that allows for vertical travel if the wind picks up. It is holding up fine.
I've researched the batwing...
Your AWD build is looking gread boardrider!
I was happy to see you decided on the soft-wall hull liner fabric. Three years after installing the same in our rig and it is holding up well. I think my wife has vacuumed the walls each fall just cuz she's a girl ;) i hadn't noticed any type of dirt...
Nice looking AWD Cyclist1. I'm wondering how much lift your torsion keys added to your stock height? I recently installed a Boulder Off Road 2" lift kit dialed in actually to 2.5". I'm running stock tire size at 245/70/r17 (link in this thread showing rig w/mod). Others might want to know...
Welcome to the forum and best wishes on your acquisition of a van and build.
Though i know there are exceptions, i've always sided with a rig that has been running rather than one left sitting in a garage. But there isn't much info in your post as to what the two van's lives have been like...
I can't answer on mounting of a roof rack, but, i can share what Van Specialties did for us when mounting a Fiama F45 10' awning on the passenger side of our Fiberine roof. At three points along the side about 10" above lower roof line they glued 6" x 6" x 3/4" marine ply blocks. The Fiama is...
Saw a similar Syncro in Vancouver Washington just last month. Amazing looking rigs up close!
And that Step Side van conversion is way cool...would be nice to see some interior pics.
Hi Mike, I have no issues at this point because i removed the flexiflares (as seen in the below photo with panel removed had ~1/4" clearance). As mentioned i have now removed the Flexiflares as the RhinoLining is plenty of protection for our use so no tire/wheel rub with inside of slider.
I...
I have an expo build thread of our 2007 TACO with an ARE cap (rig is now sold). We had a platform in the bed then inflated an airbed once in camp. We also went out the back with a two room truck tent. Nice setup.
Best wishes on the build/project.
Here is a link to the build and a couple...
