Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

It's a valve. It won't lock it out solid, so you'll always get some travel. Which is why I only ride with rigid forks these days. :D

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

Yup, for what you're doing, that shouldn't be an issue. If you end up towing your trailer, though, you'll probably have to watch it. _ I got the smaller ecoboost engine (2.7L) and payload is 1,500. Didn't realize that the 3.5L ecoboost are all near 2,000. It still does what I need it to, but...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

No kidding. I've got too many bike projects I want to get off the ground, which was stymied by the new truck purchase a year ago. Bike funds are back in black now, though. :D

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

Holy crap. That's a good deal! Even I might've been tempted at that price, and I'm not a diesel guy. _ BTW, what's the payload rating on your truck?

    Dually or single rear wheel?

I would keep your rig. You know it. Familiar with it. No USLD needed (yes, some parts still do not have ULSD. No, not all diesel is ULSD). If it breaks down? That's part of the adventure! Look at these folks driving a 30 year old rig, and their reasons why they like driving an old rig...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

In my personal (anecdotal) experience, GM trucks have had great reliability. My old man used to run a commercial construction gig and only bought GMC's. (1/2 to 3/4 ton). All abused properly, and worked hard. All hit 200k miles without issues. Check engine light here and there, but mostly...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

I had Yokohamas on my passenger cars in the past. There were some QC issues, so stopped buying them. A friend has Geolander A/T's on his Cruiser, and it's been great for him. Which is why I was looking into these. Price seems right as well. I'll check out those BFG's, too. Same for me...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

Payload will be a top priority when "my last truck" is considered. I figure with a HD payload package with a 1/2 ton, it should get me ~2,500lbs. With the camper at 1,000 to 1,200 lbs, it should leave enough for cargo and junk. I really want to travel light. Maybe even a shell model you...

    anyone ride the stealth bikes?

kojack - I'm not against e-bikes in proper settings (i.e. on motorized trails). Seems like you've got plenty of that there. Sure, have fun. I'd welcome not smelling any fumes as one of them passes. :D

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

I figure my retirement touring set up will look something like these folks'. Simple, slide in camper, gas 1/2 ton truck (hey, I want to head down to Mexico/Baja without worries of finding ULSD), a couple of bikes on the back. Not ideal for tight trails, but fortunately, there are more than...

    anyone ride the stealth bikes?

Let's try to encourage that kind of behavior, so they can be banned sooner from non-motorized trails. They even get annoying in bike lanes as well. Some idiot passed me doing a good clip, missing my handlebars by a few inches. 3' rule should apply there, too.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Depends on your use, but if mostly road and dirt, I'd stick with stock. They're not bad (not great, either). For dirt travels, and on-road manners, they did their job. We've got about 30k on them, and time to replace them (next summer. Winters are on now). Our stock tires are Continental...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

That would be ideal. I remember towing a 12' enclosed trailer last year, up one of the canyons. It wasn't a windy day, but I could definitely feel some tail wag when I passed a semi or if there were some cross winds. I think that StarCraft is 10' high, which is like driving with a sail on the...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Currently running Blizzak's, but I think I might go with Yoko Geolander G015 and get rid of the winter/summer set up. Blizzak's have been awesome. But I think I can get away with running just one set of wheels, especially since these tires are winter rated. The extra space in the garage would...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

One thing to note is the Starcraft is tall. Susceptible to cross winds and passing semi's. Perhaps with a proper hitch set up, maybe not an issue, but I don't know for sure. But I'd imagine it'd be definitely noticeable compared to a 3:4 ton. Not saying he needs a 3/4 to pull it, but the...

    Ram 1500 outfitted

Huh. Cool idea with the bike rack. I guess if it can handle 4 bikes at ~30lb each, it can handle weight of a tire and gas can.

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

I think the automotive industry is much different these days. Shrinking world/global economy, means part suppliers, r&d, engineers, designers, etc. are being pulled from the same pool. There's been many instances in the past where two companies co-developed specific parts, which continues...

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

Yep, no kids = midsize. Or even "mini" like you've got. I wouldn't mind building up an old '83 Pick up and stuff a 3rz in it. "Someday dreams" that will never happen. :D

Who tows with a diesel Colorado ?

My wife has an Outback. Loves it. Size is right for day to day stuff. Colorado is huge in comparison. But if your wife can handle the size, that'd be a good set up for you. Pending it tows like you want. I know there are people that are happy with how it tows. But "happy" is relative. I'd be...

    2012 Ford F-150 FX4

Nice truck. But man, that "grill guard" looks out of place. It'd look much better without it. I'd just take that off. It'll only do more damage if you end up hitting something.
