I had that go out on the driver side rear window. Boy What a surprise. I too taped it up with gorilla tape and interesting on my 02 limited I just scrapped the tape residue off with a razor. The rear windows are actually tinted glass on mine and not a film. I scrapped both sides without any tint...
Different Jeep but same rear axle (to my knowledge)
On my wj with a 4.7 and the 44HD/A. I run a Chassis unlimited cover and the skid is from Mountain vista but I don't know if thats fits the wks. The axles is a varilok but that makes no difference for the cover. It uses Allen key bolts instead...
I run a 2002 Limited so it is a little different and lacks the 4.7HO I do have the quadradrive system with the normal 4.7 and I will say they are very good platforms for some people. I say that because they don't handle on road as well as a 4runner or other suv that has ifs. But on a trail the...
It is rock hard 4x4 I think it was around USD$1150 shipped to a freight depot. I have changed the license plate mount since these pic and added a aux reverse light.
A better picture of it
Still absolutely love your build it was definitely a leading role when I was building mine. So I thought you might enjoy a couple photos. Its not an overland so I don't have the nice 4.7ho bit still a fully loaded limited with 109k miles.
As far as this build it is over Jeep has been sold for almost a year and after owning a mild travel v8 4Runner for 9-10 months I have come back to the Jeep world. My 2002 Grand Cherokee v8 named CoWj for anyone that is interested.
No problem I was able to do a bit of cross referencing with east coast gear supply and a few other sites and was able to order some new shafts. By the way your build is one of the main reasons I wanted to go with the wj over the wk. I had built a zj before and I just wasn't happy with my 4th gen...
Hello I am prepping to build my wj limited v8 QD and I am putting an arb locker in the rear, but I have heard that the axle shafts from the VariLock axles don't work with an arb. Did you have to change yours? Any help will be greatly appreciated
Lift up the axle you are wondering with both tire off the group and spin one if the other spins the same way you have a lsd or locker if they spin opposite ways its open.
I own a 2007 4runner sport edition with a v8 its slightly different to a v8 because it has a awd system with an lsd center diff for normal driving giving it a 30/70 f/r split for normal driving. However it has a manual locking center diff in the transfer case that makes it to a 50/50 split as...
Very cool story, though I do have one question why did you air the trailer tires down wouldn't that end up making it hard to go throught the sand due to the increased rolling resistance? Just wondering the reason behind that.
I remember reading your SOS trip report a couple weeks ago and I just have to say its probably on of if not the best trip reports I've read in a long time.
I'm running a d35 with a lockrite autolocker that works awesome on my 29" tires. But I hate to say this but the build is over I am selling the zj soon. But if you ever need any help with tips or info with a zj just send me a message.
And is trying to contact a junk yard in Australia out of the question? I'm not really sure about this but maybe try to contact sleep off road here in Colorado to see what they think they are land cruiser experts they even have a 70 series truck out front of the shop and they might have an idea...
I honestly would say that a jku is a better overland vehicle than a jk both can be out fitted to do both but in terms of a long distance overland vehicle I would go with a jku because of the extra space. I even was thinking of buying a jk Rubicon 2 Dr but I just didn't have enough space to fit...
I would have to say that its really not what the vehicle is designed for in the Start but how you build it, and use it determines a rock Crawler vs overland vehicle.
