My recent trip all bikes were racked on the trailer. I had the vertical bike rack lashed down under them on the trailer deck. We unpacked/ de rigged the bikes, setup camp, then loaded the bikes up on the hitch rack. Not ideal or fast but it worked.
My setup without the 4x6 camp trailer. I’ve thought about trying the hitch with the top mounted socket. But wholly smokes these vertical racks are heavy. I can see the rack shearing the top receiver part right off the tow bar.
I ordered bike tires 3 times all three times different sources etc they failed to show up. I ended up finding some locally and did in person pickup. Shipping is super swamped and in some cases massively inefficient like three separate visits from UPS on the same day?♂️- same truck same driver?♂️
I think quality can come out of China just as Quality can come out of Australia or Texas or Indiana etc. But most costly US travel trailers out of China? They honestly fall on the bottom of my list. I’d rather go find a builder and get what I want. I don’t need half the stuff they pack into...
So far my list of manufactured in China is Black Series, Opus and now this XT. They all look like they are coming out of the same facility only different layouts and branding.
Guys he lives in LA. Everyone I know in LA including family have full sized rigs. Pssst LA was physically built around the full sized car. Hint Boston, San Francisco etc were not. Yes there is a big difference!
Also his access to the best mountains and BLM are long fast highway drives which...
Having been a Bear country camper my whole life I will tell you my recent non bear country camping made hard walls and indoor cooking needs very obvious. Winds in the desert and plains make tents a no go, add desert dust storms and biting flies from the more humid regions I quickly understood...
Friend spent a month in Florida just got back he bailed when COVID started to get crazy and he wasn’t seeing any mask wearing or social distancing. He mentioned cooking inside was the norm vs outside when he was in Wyoming and Colorado.
Ok now I know why I’m thinking Opus 15. This same trailer is basically being imported as a kit. Assembled and sold under different brand names. Got it
I bet you could sell a few more selling them as a kit delivered on pallets to the buyers driveway?
So XT15 Isn’t Opus? Inside cooking is a nice to have option when out doors cooking isn’t working. Ie Moab winds and dust, Sierras thunderstorms both pose challenges cooking outside my current setup is only outside cooking. Its fine till it isn’t lol.
Opus 15 I think is what he is talking about.
They are taller than most garages. I recall they are 8ft 8-9 inches tall. You might get a 10 inch drop if you take tires off and set the swing arms on rollers. I’m stuck at 7ft max garage header height.
Prices are silly $40,000+. I’ve scratched them...
We always left a key at the car when back packing. It came in handy many times usually so someone other than the original driver can drive the car. Not to mention giving a few backpackers a ride because they lost their key they took back packing.
Yeah my LA family and trips to LA vehicle size was a non issue LA is built around the big cars. My SF condo built in 1920 has a 1920 carriage door and the parking between driveways are 180 inches. The Ranger is longer than my Expedition. The Expedition does ok in SF. But its too wide for my...
Yeah my non hat wearing buddies are hitting the age where skin cancer is a reality and are all picking up hats now. Life has gone from talking hot girls and fast cars to hats?
I’m eyeing this approach also. My LOLO rack like yours is crazy heavy. My concern is ripping the socket right off the bar lol. The big advantage of bikes on the TV being you can drop the trailer run the truck to a trail head and go ride!! Vs re pack the whole thing to get the bikes on the truck...
