    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Ya, actually it is already done. :) I set caster at 4* when I did it. Thing is, can't change pinion angle without torching off the radius arm mounts axle side. And if doing that, might as well do more to the front end. Axle housing solves a bunch of issues for me from no need for diff skid to...

    FJ40 Build thread - Hell's Kitchen

Nice! I like it already. That looks like excellent separation on your 4&3 link set ups. Fairly long arm in front too. Dig that notch in the frame for the panhard clearance. Really nice work! Cheers

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Eh, bound to happen. Interesting enough it is the only truck in the fleet I bought with over 100k on it, rest I bought new or low mile and we have put all the miles on them. The truck that has the bad motor, we have only put about 35k on it in the last 7-8yrs. It was kind of amusing actually...

    Patrols - restoration projects

Been working with a guy since last fall to get rubber reproduced for the old Patrols. This being all kinds of items from window seals to grommets to bumps to gaskets and more. Nissan didn't put hardly any plastic on these trucks but there is easily 100 different pieces of rubber on them. I...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Well, motor blew up in one of my work trucks yesterday. I shouldn't say blew up, it just has a very bad knock. It is the old 350tbi in the work truck. Last night I start looking around for a replacement or what it will cost to rebuild. Get a long block GM 350 crate motor for about $1800. Then...

    Patrols - restoration projects

Sand blasting today to get some areas clean on the frame. Got at least one hole in the cross member and perhaps some thin areas. Cheers

    Patrols - restoration projects

Thanks man! Here is another typical spot for problems on an old Patrol. This is the # 2 crossmember. This one is not all beat up and dented however, I have never seen one of these not packed with funk. Knowing this I had to pull the cap, clean it out and seal it up. This 67 is in really good...

    Patrols - restoration projects

Pretty typical munched spot on the frame. These are big outriggers for the body mounts under the firewall. They stick out a ways and if a person drove over big rocks or what not these always seem to be munched. Well, got to fix them up! This one is not to bad but I opted to replace it rather...

RMP&Os 1977 Patrol Ute build for overlanding

Alrighty, I was able to locate the new gear for the t-case in order to run the PTO. The rear PTO has a hub or synchro type sleeve that when the PTO is shifted slides over the gear in the t-case to run the rear PTO. I got two 160 Patrol t-cases here and neither has the right gear in it. Seems to...

    Patrols - restoration projects

Working away on the 67 Patrol lately. Got it down to a bare frame and am starting in on frame repairs. Axles are torn down and all parts have been through the parts washer. Nice and clean now! Cheers

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Cool thanks for the info Frank. :) I have found the caster to get whacky on 80's. Done a lot with my front suspension the last year. Drop brackets, no drop brackets, no bushings, 3* bushings and now a c&t. Also had height vary 2" with three different configurations in the front end. Have seen...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Hey Frank, see post above. Slee's are in and oh man are they sweet! No axle to part out. I am building an axle not parting one. When I am done there will be a housing available. If you want it to cut the knuckle balls off of it and use on a custom housing. I bought the spare 2nd hand housing...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Slee 4" coils went in last night. Wow these are awesome springs! OME 863J on the left and Slee on the right Stock, OME, Slee OME vs Slee I gained nearly 1.5" in the rear over the relatively new OME 863J. In the front the truck remained about the same but I removed the 2" MT spacers. I...

Newbie to Toyota FJ80 Pros and Cons...

That has been done in my truck. Bolt in and go. 15" wheels though will require grinding of the brake caliper unless you only have like 2" of b/s. I am running a 15" with 3.65" b/s wheels and have had to grind the caliper. Stock I think is 4.25" of b/s. Plan to go to 17" wheels and 37's, shooting...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Just bought a 2nd hand 80 housing. I have been debating for awhile now on what I want to do to my front end. Caster is already solved and so is steering. However, I want to try and solve my pinion angle issues, the best I can anyways. If you have followed the thread you know I can't run a front...

RMP&Os 1977 Patrol Ute build for overlanding

Thanks, I think so too. What's cool is actually getting around to using items like this that been in the stash for many years. I think I got the rear PTO box in 2009. I was down in Colombia and my buddy down there says, hey I bought this and don't want it, do you want it? I was like hell ya, not...

RMP&Os 1977 Patrol Ute build for overlanding

Been digging out all kinds of goodies from my stash. Bit of gold here, rear PTO box from a Nissan Fire Patrol. This would have likely ran the pump on the truck but it can run all kinds of things, even a hydraulic pump for on-board hydraulics like a Unimog has. I got this from Colombia, South...

    RMP&O's v8 80-series

Have not had a good chance to check things out clearance wise since I did all the work to the front end, new shocks, ect. So yesterday a backyard flex test was in order. Cheers

Did a little 3 wheel'n in my G Wagon today!

Pinz has this issues completely due to lack of articulation. Narrow truck doesn't help. Put my old Pinz on it's side once. It was very easy to do. Cheers
