Call Georg at Valley Hybrids if you need a new trans. He sold a buddy of mine a solid 4spd for a really good price. He also has access to H55's.
Cheers
Great pics and write up Kurt!
I had a hell of a good time over there in 2008. All over the West Coast. Spent my birthday on Fraser Island in a rented DC diesel Hilux. Just me, the Hilux, the beach, dingo's and warm Guiness. Fraser is pretty touristy but I didn't have any issues finding...
LHD, there is no RHD countries in the Americas.
$10-15k gets you a nice 10-15yr old low mile TD42 5spd 4-door Patrol in Panama. They are pretty common there under $10k too. Same truck in Australia, 3, 4 even 5+ times the cost!!
I have looked into it, had planned to import a TD42 GQ/Y60 as...
Good to hear. I have decided on the Slee 4", HD progressive in the rear. I got brand new 863J's in the back. Unloaded at about 6200ishlbs it rides fine and great. Loaded up for a long trip I am pushing 7,000lbs. Then it sags and performs poorly.
Shocks there are some great options available...
I ran a ground to the terminal block from the battery in the back, it is #1 too. Then all the grounds in the engine bay were grounded to the terminal block. Basically it is the same as it was I just put in the terminal block.
Couple questions.
Should I upsize the ground on the winch to #00...
Super stoked! Got great news this morning from the machine shop.
Crank is so good it just needs a polish. Head is so good it just needs valve seats. Block has oil jets! Turbo only going to be $385 to rebuild. Since I supplied parts for the rebuild, won't have a lot of cash into the machine...
sweeeeeet!! I like it, a lot. The 3L has a bad rep and rightly so. But it is like the 80-series engine and it's rep for head gaskets. The % of failures compared to no failures is small. It is just once the word gets out, everybody labels them as a hand grenade waiting to go off.
I drove a new...
I left last month and went on a trip on down to Baja in Mexico. A 3-week overland trip in my v8 80-series Cruiser. Right before I left the 64 Patrol went back to the body shop. The body guy is just about to paint. Next week he thinks. The tub, floor pans and firewall are being installed and...
Alrighty, talked to the injection shop. Probs with the pump are where it mounts to the engine is a bushing. This is all auged out and egg shaped, that makes the case toast. So it is not cracked but still toast. Barrel and plungers are also shot along with some springs. I got a spare TD pump I am...
Ya but I also said I thought I fixed the bad ground. Truck doesn't shock me anymore but I think I should go through every ground on the truck and make sure it is good.
Fuse isn't blown but it is a little melted. New fuse doesn't fix it. Shop has been cold, boiler down, just got that fixed...
Bummer! But if they get used they get bruised.
Looks more like a UAZ or GAZ that pulled you out than a tractor? Hard to tell from the pic but it is not a Rover. Masonic emblem back lower RHS corner?
Cheers
I have been using facebook to host my pics for a few years now. It is less than ideal.
Bummer! Bad news. SD33T injection pump from Spain is shot. Housing is cracked. Plungers bad and few other things. Going to send off the 2nd one I have but looks like I need a rebuild on one of these pumps...
Indeed! Call to them today was not all that great though. Bad news is the Scout head is toast, cracked badly. They sent off the IP, injectors and turbo to SLC but have not heard back yet. They have not touched the diesel otherwise but plan to get the head off on Mondayish and find out if it is...
Oh ya, it weighs about 150-200lbs before you add your tire and jerry cans. Easily installed by two guys and was not all that heavy. Side wings are re-inforced.
Cheers
