A friend of mine is looking at a 2008 dodge mega cab, he's wondering about a cheap good suspension option...Any ideas on this?

Oh, is there a kit to mount a winch like the power wagon has? just the fairlead sticking out? everything else behind the bumper? He's looking at using the N fab pre runner front and rear bumper guards to mount some aux. lighting on! No PW-style winch kit that I am aware of. You could get PW...

Answer depends on whether it's a diesel or gasser. Big difference in weight and spring rates.

Hand tools, does brand really matter?

The tools at home are a mix of mostly older (1960s-1970s) Craftsman, with a few specialty items from Snap-On, Proto, Blackhawk, SK, Thorsen. All good. The set I carry in the truck is branded Crescent (from Costco) and seems to be pretty good quality. The everyday jobsite tools are Husky (Home...

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

The best battery guy I knew (now retired) was a Deka dealer and he told me not to buy Dekas, lots of warranty claims. Another really smart battery guy loves Dekas. Go figure.

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

And in another forum a member rants and raves how terrible Northstar is, every time I include them in the top three recos. Lots of posters on most forums don't have a very good grasp on reality.

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

That is, as I said, true for **all** sealed deep cycling lead. Understood, but Odyssey seems to be the only mass market, dual purpose AGM that requires 14.7V to charge successfully. All the others that I have looked at are supposed to be happy at 14.2V-14.6V, which is the range that most...

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

Give Bruce Essig a buzz sometime if you have specific Qs, Tel: +1 (660) 429-7506 / bruce.essig@enersys.com / Fax: +1 (660) 429-1758 But as with any AGM, they are very susceptible to early death if not properly coddled: shallow DoD, getting back to spec'd endAmps 100% Full most cycles, etc etc...

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

Optima Yellows are dual purpose, Reds are starting, and Blues come in both versions (differentiated by the shade of gray on the case, confusing to many, including some of their dealers).

Locker on the front, or a winch?

Personally, I would not put a non-selectable locker on the front of a 3/4-ton truck. I have not forgotten how to drive, and I don't want the front diff locking unless I tell it to. Too risky when hot footing it on pavement. Fully locked is OK, and fully open is OK, but it's got to be one way...

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

or (maybe compromise, maybe best solution) buy Sterling BB series DCDC chargers, which are fully customizable, and use them to filter the current from any old charge source as needed, so you are from then on free to buy whatever chemistry you like, from these most excellent Odysseys, to GEL to...

Locker on the front, or a winch?

I spend a lot of time in the desert and have all of the above. LSD in the rear, lockers in both axles, big winch, OBA, Hi-Lift, Pull Pal, sand mats, Max Trax, shovel, etc. I can still get myself stuck, so I have learned to be careful. If I had to carry only one item, it would be the Max Trax...

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

To OP: I would advise against the Odyssey Extreme 31M. I have gone through three of those batteries over the last nine years, got barely three years out of each one, with meticulous attention to frequent reconditioning on shore power. Don't do it. Odyssey needs 14.7V+ to properly charge and...

Where to mount a mppt solar controller?

I suspect that they will be prompt. Or not. When I was looking for my controller, I called them. No response. Then I emailed them. No response. Then I bought something else.

It’s a 2016. I plan on running my ARB 50 quart, possibly some camp lights (led) and the occasional camera change. OK, but where are you putting the battery? What kind of battery? What size?

    Dual Battery for 2018 Raptor

I have been trying to figure out where to mount a second battery in my Tundra CrewMax with the short bed, similar configuration to the Raptor. Not willing to give up any space in the bed or the cab, but had a brainstorm over the weekend. Seems that a lot of the aftermarket bumper makers for...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

Used my MaxTrax last week to get some guy's F150 4X out of the Gila River bed is AZ. Couldn't just leave him there, so the MaxTrax saved me the trouble of digging out straps and shackles. Always try the easy way first. He was suitably amazed.

GMT800 Suburban Towing issues: Gearing or power?

EDITED TO ADD: I'm not a huge fan of things like Cold Air Intakes or air box removal - I'm just skeptical that they really improve power. Ditto for "reprogramming" the computer, as I think that assumes that the "tuners" know more about the engine than, you know, the people who BUILT it. Adding...

How Do You Mount Your Fire Extinguisher?

What's the go to extinguisher type/brand? Short answer, as always, "It depends." There was a very long extinguisher thread on this board a few years ago with good contributions from an actual well trained firefighter. Search should turn it up. I went with Halon because of all the...
