Arb 50L, raptor agm, Odyssey agm...easiest link??

Those BlueSea charging relays are great, but for simple system as you describe and not using additional charging such as solar, you might as well fit a dumb isolator relay. Agree completely. My setup in two trucks is a Painless Performance HD marine grade solenoid, works like a charm. If you...

    Low Fuel indicator

My 98 GMC K1500 and my 2000 Escalade are basically the same as your 99 Burb. Both have a little amber light on the gas gauge that comes on when the tank gets real low. You don't want to run the tank that low except in emergencies because the pump is in the tank and uses the gas to cool the...

Difference between marine & RV deep cycle AGM batteries?

Don't know about Lifeline. With Odyssey, the only diff between regular and marine is the extra pair of threaded studs, designed for lower current stuff like trolling motors and refrigerators. Same for Northstar, same battery with extra studs. Optima gets more confusing. Their marine Blue...

    Suggestions on 110v outlet?

Look on boat and yacht sites like Fisheries Supply and maybe Jamestown Distributors.

    Recovery Point Questions

Second question: assuming the receiver is a good recovery point, would it be acceptable to attach a tow strap to the receiver using a standard 5/8" hitch pin? I would insert the loop on the tow strap into the receiver and slide the pin through the receiver and loop. Any strap that will fit into...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Anybody else notice that OP has been conspicuously absent from this thread since his first post almost a week ago?

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

What do you suggest be used instead? Odyssey suggests a carbon pile tester, but good ones are not cheap. I have an old school inductive heater battery tester, which is OK for my purposes. The hand held computerized testers are somewhat unreliable. A computerized test bench would be great...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

When I first got my second generation Odyssey charger, I monitored it pretty closely with a multimeter, for volts and amps as it went thru its cycles. Everything seemed to be running according to spec, and the battery still won't get to full charge or hold a charge for any significant length of...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Had to pull out a 25amp CTEK I have a couple of smaller Cteks and have been thinking about the 25 amp as an alternative to the bulky Odyssey chargers. How do you like that Ctek?

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Have either of you tried doing a deep discharge and re-conditioning as Odyssey suggests? I tried that on the second of my three Odyssey 2150s, without success. All I accomplished was to overheat the battery and cause outgassing, so Odyssey told me to shut it down and give up on that battery...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Neither OP nor I have been talking about true deep cycling. His choices were Goal Zero, dual battery, or Group 31. I don't think he specifically excluded true deep cycle, but that was not on his hit list. His current needs don't seem to call for a true deep cycle, and he does not seem to want...

Same with Diehard Platinum back in the day - I think Sears gave the contract to JCI in fact, thus meh. . . The old Diehard Platinums were rebadged Odysseys, confirmed by a phone call to Odyssey. When Sears terminated that contract, they switched to Northstar, confirmed in a phone call to...

Optima is irrelevant to deep cycle usage, since Enersys sold them off they're good dual-use Starter batts that's all. Optima would disagree with you on that point. They still make two separate battery types, starting batteries and dual purpose (deep cycle) batteries). Are they true deep...

All quality AGMs require high-amp charging for optimum longevity. Optima does not agree with you. Their highest amp Optima-branded charger is about 12 amps, last time I checked. And their tech specs recommend max charge at 10 or so amps. So, I called them a couple years ago to inquire...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Believe what you want, but my three Odyssey Grp 31s have been a major pain in the ass, and the Northstar Grp 31 has been perfect. Batteries are in different trucks, but both are parked more than they are driven. Odyssey requires constant maintenance charges, and the current one has been that...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Odyssey has not spec'd any conditioning (equalizing) for their TPPL flat plate AGM batts for many years. Well, I'm on my third Odyssey G31 and have had extensive phone calls with Odyssey tech support and with their management. They have a specific list of chargers that are "approved" for their...

Pain? What do you mean... all I do is drive my vehicle.. or not... battery works fine.. I have them in several vehicles... I think they are pc1750... I don’t know what group battery that is.... A 1750 is not a Grp 31, I think it's a G65 (you could look it up). The Odyssey 2150 Extreme is their...

Goal Zero Vs. Dual Battery Vs. Solo Group 31

Change your main start battery to an oddysey extreme agm . Not if you want a Grp 31. I have both Odyssey and Northstar Grp 31s in different trucks, and the Northstar is far less trouble to maintain. The Odyssey G31 is just a pain in the ass. The smaller Odysseys (like G34 ) are just fine.

    WTB: Small Fridge/Freezer

I have a TruckFridge TB51, and I like it a lot. Except that it is currently broken. It's throwing a code that even TruckFridge has never seen before, and it won't run at all on 12V, but will sorta run on house current. Local guy who repairs yacht stuff thinks it's probably a bad thermostat...
