Mounting ARB Rack to Fiberglass Shell

Not making a lot of progress on the ARB idea, but found one guy at ARB who is willing to take some measurements and get back to me. Looks like I may be able to adapt a set of the SmittyBilt adjustable mounts (AM-8) to bolt to the ARB mounting plates, but will probably take some laser cut plates...

Mounting ARB Rack to Fiberglass Shell

Don't want a platform rack and already have the Yakima tracks on this truck. My typical traveling load is overstressing the Yakima landing pads and towers and I'm getting worried about a rack failure on the road. Upgraded and tweaked the Yakima stuff two summers ago and it's about as strong as...

Mounting ARB Rack to Fiberglass Shell

I am thinking about upgrading my rack system because I have been consistently overloading my current setup. The best size for my situation is the big ARB alloy rack, #4900010M, 87"x49". I want to mount it directly to the top of my cab-high SnugTop fiberglass shell. So far, so good. ARB does...

power wagons have dismal payload compared to normal 2500s... That's because they are designed to do different things than a regular 2500. You can boost the effective payload with Carli springs, but then you lose a lot of the PW's flex. If all you want is payload, buy a different truck.

    50W Solar Panel

I don't have any solar installed yet, but am planning it. It is my understanding that a PWM controller is plenty for a small array (100W) and that an MPPT is marginally better, but not worth the extra cost unless you are running more panels. Comments?

    Question regarding MPG

I spoke with Titan about an aux tank for my Power Wagon and they don't have one and don't plan to build one. When I asked them about adapting a diesel tank, they would not discuss it. Simplest/best solution is probably RotoPaks on a roof rack, unless you are willing to give up bed space for...

Deck restorer vs bedliner for plywood

I have a painted Rust-O-Leum bed liner on an aluminum crossbed tool box that I coated maybe 12 years ago and have not touched up since. It has been out in the weather for about six years on a duck blind and there is no peeling, inside or out. Worked better than expected. A friend used bed...

OP should spend some quality time reading the PW Registry. It's a fairly dedicated group of owners with everything from 2005 to current, some bone stock and some highly modded. Discussions cover everything, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. But it's mostly good...

Get the 6.4 and don't look back. Nothing wrong with the 5.7, but the 6.4 is better.

Mine has always been fine on washboard roads, but I tend to speed up on washboard to "float" the truck a little. Points of comparison are a GMC K1500 and a second generation Tundra. PW is about the same as the GMC and better than the Tundra.

You mentioned an MPG penalty with the PW. What kind of MPG are you seeing with yours? And what is the gas tank size? I assume that with solid axles front and rear, lockers and sway bar disconnects, it's pretty capable off road? It is, by far, the most capable full size off road truck you can...

Do you really need an AC inverter?

FWIW, the Milwaukee guy told me this morning that they will intro 12ah batteries for their M18 system in Q3. Dewalt has a new power bank that uses four 60V Flexvolt batteries to provide portable 110V power, and it also works with a mix of 20V Max batteries.

    WTB ARB Transit Bag

Anyone know where to find a good price on an ARB transit bag for the 50 Qt fridge/freezer. Best I can find is $127. Thanks.

A Power Wagon will give OP everything he wants, and more. Used ones are pretty reasonable. Only downside is gas mileage. Re keeping the new(er) truck for more than three years, my Power Wagon is going on 13 years with no significant problems other than usual stuff like exhaust studs and ball...

Deck restorer vs bedliner for plywood

I used the Behr Deckover stuff on some duck blinds a couple of years ago because I could get it in colors that worked for my purposes. It's a pain to work with in tight spaces and I won't use it again if I can avoid it. I have used Rust-O-Leum roll on and spray on bed liner on other projects...

Do you really need an AC inverter?

I knew I screwed up when I started out with Makita. Been using them since the days of red plastic housings and a free Japanese Millwrights cap included in every metal tool case... Had I only known Dewalt would make servicable screwed case NiCads... I started with Makita cordless back when the...

Do you really need an AC inverter?

I forgot to mention in my previous post that the guy who rebuilds my 18V XRP batteries can also install NiMH cells in the NiCad housings, and the yellow Dewalt chargers (including the car charger) will also recharge the NiMH batteries. I have upgraded a few of my old XRPs to NiMH with great...

Do you really need an AC inverter?

Hillbilly said: If you are using that adapter to charge your 20 volt packs in that 18 volt charger then you are not fully charging your batteries. If you are charging your 18 volt pack to 20 volts you are over charging your batteries and reducing service life. Pro Tool Reviews said: 20V Max Vs...

Do you really need an AC inverter?

I have 12V cigarette lighter chargers for my Dewalt tools in 7.2, 9.6, 12, 14.4, and 18V, for NiCads, LIon, and NIMH batteries. That's all on a single charger, and they come in single port and dual port versions. And with the Dewalt 20-Vto18V adapter, I can charge my 20V batteries on the same...
